I’ve had a horrible headache for a week. Went to the doctor and she told me I had a sinus infection and gave me antibiotics. My headache kept getting worse to the point i couldn’t eat or sleep..
It got so bad today I couldn’t handle the pain and ended up going to the er because I was so scared something was seriously wrong..
They did blood work and a ct scan and nothing is wrong...not even a damn sinus infection like my doctor told me it was.
I have horrible anxiety and depression and i swear it’s taking over my life.
I think my anxiety is giving me horrible headaches...I don’t even know what to do anymore.
I have this invisible illness....no one can see it but it feels so real.
Sometimes I wish the doctors could find something wrong just so it could be fixed....

I don't quite know what to say other than I am going through something similar -- different physical symptoms, but no affirmative diagnosis. I've been to the ER two times within just the last couple of weeks (even more within the last year), and, on more than one occasion, when the doctor gave me the good news I was all right, I didn't react with the expected happiness because I knew I still had symptoms and no explanation. I have health anxiety and associated obsessive-compulsive disorder, so the not knowing is maddening.
I just wanted to let you know that I think I understand what you are going through, and I know how hard it is, how bewildering to be lying in that hospital bed with a clean bill of health -- feel free to message me if you need to talk. I hope your headaches will subside soon. Take care and be well.
Almost all chronic sinus infections are fungal in nature, that could be why you didn't get better from antibiotics. Doctors aren't very careful in their diagnosis and insurance payed lab tests often come back false negative. Its honestly a tragedy in america. Find some doctors that will run good tests.
anxiety and depression are invisible illnesses- they aren't easily spotted and can't really be proven they exist besides what you say you are feeling. it is important to find a doctor who has experience in handling mental health disorders so they can handle your case better and give you better advice and ultimately get you better faster. you are not crazy or weird for what you are feeling- lots of people feel this way. anxiety can cause headaches too! they usually take the form of tension headaches, but migraines can also stem from anxiety. i hope things get better for you!
Hi Darlarae, Still a tuff time,eh? I,m glad u went to the doctor/er to at least make sure it wasn,t something immeadeately dangerous to you. Yes, i understand it feels that serious but here u are reading this! Good job! It,s another day, right!? About the antibiotics. They take some time to do their thing and affect how you feel. Maybe they work faster though in your body than you think, hence the neg. test results. It took 9 days for the antibiotics to kick my last uti but they finally did. Those stupid head aches really hurt. I,m sorry. I,m hanging with you! Keep fighting! Big warm smile and hug coming your way! Let me know if my positivity is bugging you. It,s my style. It,s how i,ve always personally survived all the crap that life throws at you.
