I’ve read posts on here for a while now but never really posted anything but today I decided to post. I have suffered from depression and anxiety for years and years and went on and off of Xanax a couple times but have given up on depression meds because sometimes they just make life more difficult for me than what it already is! Have any of you done anything similar? Treated one thing and not the other? Or tried to deal with the depression on your own because of countless failed attempts with meds?

A little confused
How many different depression meds have you tried?
Hey there I appreciate your honest question. Estrogen dominance often has depression as a symptom. Finally figured that out myself and went cold turkey on the anti depressants and feel better than I have in 20 years. When the liver is overloaded with toxins it can’t metabolize estrogen so it recycles through you over and over. This makes you feel pretty bad. All hormones are signalers. They steal from eachother when they are depleted. There are plastics in the water supply that also act as estrogens in our systems. So eat clean, organic veggies. Broccoli has IC3 which helps the body metabolize estrogen. Cut back on meat and dairy, they are full of hormones and estrogens that add to your toxic load. Get in the sauna and sweat and take epsom baths to move toxins out via your skin. Get 30 mins exercise 3 times a week to flush your lymphatic system. And keep your relationships healthy and avoid toxic people and situations. Your body will tell you in strange ways to get out. Best of luck! Balance your hormones with bio identical hormones as a stepping stone to get you out of your rut, cut all pharmaceuticals, they are very toxic, and clean your diet and move and get fiber.
Sounds like a lot and I know it takes time but I’m so bad at following thru with plans and goals I set out for myself. Eating healthily is definitely something I’ve been working on but sometimes I go days without eating at all! And I also suffer from chronic migraines so some meds I use are in my life for long term otherwise my migraines come back with a vengeance. And I’m diagnosed with RA but for now DO NOT take NONE of those meds for the same reasons... I have many more better days and weeks without the meds versus the suffering from all the different side affects from most of the meds. I’m a CNA and I can do great at my job but then suddenly I’ll have a flare up and it puts me out for a couple days and I either have to quit or loose me job. I know that contributes to my depression and anxiety. Right now I think more than anything I just need some kind of support system. Cause I don’t like to burden my family or friends with my same issues all the time.
I just wanted to mention that I am under treatment for depression using ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy). I did this because all the drugs that I used to take simply stopped working. It definitely worked for me, and continues to work! I don't know how close a medical center that performs this therapy is to you, but it is something to discuss with your doctor if you are interested.
I have tried many different antidepressant meds. None worked. St. Johns Wort helps. My anxiety is off the charts, however. I have a huge amount of stress in my life which doesn't help. I use Xanax strictly for sleep. I wake up in the middle of the night with anxiety from around 12:00 M-2:00 am. It gets me back to sleep until around 4 am or 5:00. I don't use it any other time even though I'm always anxious. Sometimes, if I can't go to sleep when I go to bed, I take 1/2 a pill and when I wake up around 3 am, I take the other 1/2. I wonder if my stressful life situation was gone, I wouldn't feel so anxious.
