I find I have no enthusiasm or any real energy to do anything, barring the absolute basics. I'm 56 years old, male, live alone with no social life. Is there a prescription drug that will give me back my zest? It seems, I'm just waiting to die.
My doctor has a sign in his surgery, stating he does not prescribe any serious drugs for depression (well that's the theme, of the sign). If I change doctors, are there drugs on the market that can help me? I'm just sick of it all ....... what's the point?
Thanks for listening

Hi it could well be that meds could help you with your depression. There are lots to choose from and often it's a case of trial and error. These aren't 'serious' drugs that your doctors sign means so s/he will be able to prescribe them.
Counselling should able to help as well so as well so ask your doctor. x
yes...is the simple answer....the more complex answer is that you should maybe ask your doctor for a referral to a therapist that may be able to help you with what your going through emotionally. If it's depression, then yes, but its also a trial and error process to see which meds work best for you and at what dosage. There is no magic pill, but my antidepressant does make me feel more evened out. What ever you discover about yourself in therapy, it's all good, it gives you a place to start to try and feel better.
Hello Lost, yes i no exactly how you feel. Cos i feel the same way some of the time. Somedays wonder why. I've woke up. I'm 62 and live alone. I do Volunteering, and find it helps. Someone, always needs your help and it gets you out and meeting People. Hospitals, Museum.s, Old people's Clubs, eco-projects, always need help even if it's just to. Mash the Tea. Your Doc doesn't seem a great help. Think i,d change, to a more helpful one. 😊
It seems a shame your Dr has such a negative view about antidepressants. I think they have their place during really difficult times but perhaps best combined with other therapies. Hard to say but perhaps a different Dr might help you. I wish you all the best
Hi lost 55. I feel for you. One thing that may help is to get out and take a walk everyday, especially as the weather warms. Maybe try online dating, there is someone for everyone! They may not be perfect, but I guarantee there is someone out there for you. Lastly, try a high dose of omega 3’s. Omega Bright is a good brand. I hope this helps.
