First, great name! Second, I know exactly what you mean.... Ive been battling anxiety for whats gotta be 30 of my 38y. Its been so relentless lately that Im constantly clenching & grinding my teeth or pushing my tongue into my teeth which causes a great deal of physical discomfort and wicked headaches. Dont even get me started on my stomach or my sweating or my sleep habits!

Sometimes I fear it will never get better, only get worse as I continue to age.... But I try to remind myself that Ive been here before & made it out. It cant rain all the time, or so they say. Now, Ill admit it seems rt now that theres no way out for me but the REAL me is in there saying, "Oh yes there is, now you get up & fight back!"

If you are working AND going to school FT, that tells me youre tough as nails! You are disciplined and capable. I know how hard that workload is. I know its hard to go to classes, do your work, focus, and perform when your anxiety is gnawing on your brain. My heart goes out to you <3

Just keep fighting the good fight, like you have been. Come here and vent when necessary. There are options. There is hope. You can and will make it through, one moment at a time.

I know you are very busy, but please find the time to see your doctor and begin a course of treatment for your anxiety. There is no need to struggle with this burden all by yourself. Let others help you. We are here if you'd like to talk more about it.

This was really hard for me to admit that I can’t do this alone. That I need help. I have an appointment next Tuesday. Just thinking about having someone listen to me and help me makes me feel better. I feel relieved to start treatment.

The strange thing about anxiety is that we are reluctant to change anything, even when we are miserable. I'm so glad you made the appt. You took the first step to get back where you belong. And gogogirl may have a point. Did you consider taking fewer hours at school, and give yourself some breathing room? It's just a suggestion.

I definitely have and I should have done that this semester but I was fine before. I was taking up to 7 classes at two universities and working full time and I was good then all of a sudden it hit me like bricks and it’s just gotten worst. It was like a switch and now I can’t turn it off. its like I’m trapped in my own anxiety.

Well, no wonder- maybe you could take fewer courses? What kind of work do you do?

I take 5 courses right now and they are all on line. They aren’t so bad but it’s still a lot of work. As soon as I finished this semester I am going to change my workload to 1 class. I need to feel better first. I work at a bank in the accounting department.. it’s stressful every day

Well great- sounds like you're good at math but it does sound stressful. Do you have a degree in that?

Yes it is. I have a bachelors degree in accounting and business administration and I’m in school for my masters.

Well, that is great- what an accomplishment, and good at math also!

Well, you're on the right track now. It will take some time, but let the doc help you, and you'll be fine again. And you're always welcome on here.

As for the courses, you know your capabilities better than anyone else, so you should make that call on your own. Just don't be afraid to give yourself a little break if you think you need it.

Take care,

Hi Denisse

It does seem that you are on the right path by seeing a therapist and reducing your school and workload. I think that your anxiety is giving you a message and that is, slow down and take better care of yourself. I know that you will recover! Best of luck to you. Howard

Hi Denise, I've been suffering for years. What I'm finding out is to figure out what is the cause of your anxeity and confront it. People on this site are good about giving tips on dealing with anxeity. Find what works for you? Believe me I know what your going through. PLEASE don't try and talk to friends n family about what your going through, at first they'll listen, but guarantee you after, they won't want to hear it anymore, they'll tell you get over it or go for a walk? That's what I get told.

My kids isolate me as a way of dealing with me...that's why there are a lot of people on this site.

Wish you the best,. Keep writing, we're here for YOU

That is so true.. my relationships are suffering because of it. At first my boyfriend was really sweet and would listen and try to make me feel better but now all I get are calm downs, relax and stop worrying.. like its my fault I feel this way. If I could control it the way he thinks I can I would have done so a long time ago. I don't like showing or talking to him about. I pretend im okay when inside im constantly falling apart.

That is normal, unfortunately. My family is over it & me. Like you said, Id stop it or contain it if I could. I dont mean to seem difficult or bratty. Im struggling & Im scared!

You have already accomplished so much. You will get through this, just a little at a time for now. Dont be too hard on you. Here's what Im working on: Treat yourself, like you would a loved one. If you would hug & console her, tell her to take a bath, relax, & maybe rest... Do that!!

You've got to love & nurture yourself like you want to be loved & nurtured by your people. Do unto to others, yes. Just dont forget to do unto to you just the same way. Best wishes

Hiya, so sorry to hear about your anxiety. You are in good company on this forum - lots of support, listening, advice and empathy here. You say, 'I’m a full time student and have a full time job.' Wow - how is that even possible !? I'm exhausted just thinking about that. I won't ask what you do in your spare time ! Do you think your work/life balance should be different and, is that achievable? Be kind to yourself and take care,
