I am new here and very pleased to find this group. I have untreated anxiety and agoraphobia and I'm looking for ways to cope, as well as get support and advice from others suffering from the same conditions. I want my life back.

A little bit about me
Hi Blue-Gray1, Welcome to this great Support Group. I personally have struggled
with Anxiety as well as 5 yrs of Agoraphobia. Through a lot of self work and therapy
I was able to overcome both. You will find many others whose anxiety also led to
agoraphobia. When anxiety gets so overwhelming we start to fear everything .
I'm glad you are here with us. We will be able to help you take the necessary steps
forward. It will happen for you. xx
Thank you so much for the warm welcome Agora1. I had no idea that anxiety could lead to agoraphobia. I'm afraid to leave the house alone. I have isolated myself and I'm afraid to tell anyone what is going on, including my husband. When I tried to reach out to my family, they labeled me crazy. I am so glad that I have found others who understand.
hi my mum was agoraphobic she suffered that bad she didn't even go to her two brothers funeral.the furthest she would go was around the garden with her washing or out to the ice cream van.later in life I urged her to go to the local shop herself and she did.she took ages even although the shop was a two minute walk and had lived in the village for decades just because of her agoraphobia.she was well happy with herself though and that was good she pushed herself to do it.
It is a good feeling to know that I am not alone in my struggle and I actually feel less isolated now. There is a shopping center less than 10 minutes from my home and I am going to try to muster the courage to go shopping there on my own, but just thinking about this makes me anxious.
that's great news it really will be a great achievement for you the confidence booster will be amazing.take a little something of comfort with you in your pocket or a bag and that should settle you a bit.
