Make sure you take your Effexor at the same time in morning every day. Let your doctor know too. It does take time to build up in your system. It’s a marathon not a sprint. I was moved up to 150mg a day. I take klonopin and trazadone at night for anxiety, pain and sleep. I will caution you to never stop your Effexor without weaning off. The detox is very bad. I found that out the hard way but on accident so I didn’t know what was wrong with me. It was bad. As long as I take it though it is very helpful. I’ve tried a lot of meds and none that helped as much as Effexor with depression. I do think my anxiety is pretty bad and was bad before anxiety but I sleep now. I’m actually trying to wean off Effexor though. Meds affect each person differently. Be careful with your Xanax. Obviously it doesn’t seem to be helping you much but it is highly addictive. I never could take that. Just make sure you communicate all side effects with your doctor. You may need to increase your dose but follow doctors instructions.

At night or when we first wake and are very tired our defenses are down. It’s the same way with the common cold. It’s always worse at night. Recognize it for what it is and try to coexist. The more you focus on it the worse it will get. Try focusing on other things. Movies, reading, exercise or just sleep. It gets greater later.

Drinking lots of water helped me so much — sounds simple but I have read through many anxiety posts that water does help. Also ask your doctor about taking magnesium citrate supplement. Helped my anxiety. And magnesium Epsom salt baths are like my best friend now.

Sorry I'm typing in fragments my mind goes way too quick — to help you during the day in general I would suggest following Jason Stephenson's channel on youtube, his guided meditations are the truth and help me out a lot.

As far as apps are concerned-THE CALM is my life. Even if you're an anti meditation person which, I have not a clue if you are, through doing the daily calm I felt my anxiety levels decrease and mindfulness became easier for me, they also have a breathing section under "meditate" and you can decide how many breaths per minute you want to do and no matter where you are get the app out and breathe with it.

One last suggestion — buying the book on your smart phone by Barry McDonagh called DARE or the dare response — amazing, it, too, comes with an app to help guide you through any situation.

as far as the meds go-I have been on SSRI's for over a decade and I recently got myself off but I do remember being placed on diff ones and the effects it had at the beginning -- if it doesn't subside within two weeks — def talk to your doctor. maybe clonazepam in replacement of Xanax could help? like taking two a day in the morning and mid day or night too (whatever your doctor suggests if you bring it up to him/her) I only offer that suggestion because its longer lasting and helps prevent anxiety rather than waiting for the anxiety and taking a Xanax.

Hope some of that helped!

sending positive vibes your way
