Been to see gp again today and he prescribed mirtazapine to take with the sertraline I am already taking, I also have a telephone consultation with the mental health team on Tuesday, so I’m hoping I will be feeling more like my old self very soon 👍🏻xx

Feeling more positive
Hi,
I am really glad to hear your good news. In my opinion, it is very helpful to have a positive mind so keep going and get back to your old self.
Stay strong and fight for our happiness ❤️
I hope that works out for you. If you could keep us updated that would be good, because I was on Mirtazapine for over 3 years I think. 45mg, but I wasn't on anything else with it and I'm tarting to wonder if maybe it would be a good idea to be on anything else on top of what I'm on right now myself.
I also had a chat with the CMHT not too long ago, but they discharged me even though I had suicidal thoughts. So I don't have many good things to say about them frankly. At least not the ones near me anyway.
Hope you have a better experience with them.
I'm booked in to see people at a local service for people like us local to me called Steps To Wellbeing. But haven't heard back fro them about my appointment yet. These things take so long to filter through and the waiting list takes ages.
Oh I’m sorry to hear you haven’t really received the help you need, I’m only on day 4 of taking mirtazapine and sertraline and I feel a bit better in myself but they are making me feel quite dizzy and sick for several hours in the morning, I’ve got my telephone assessment with the mental health team in the morning so I’ll let you know how it goes x
I think those side effects usually fade after a while. I had the same nausea symptoms with the new medication I'm on as well, (Venlafaxine). But those side effects are not as strong now after taking it for about 6 weeks.
My local CMHT wasn't that much help to me personally, but I'm sure you'll have better support where you live.
Sorry to hear that you didn’t get much help from your local mht, Mine we’re really good and have been a great help, contacted my gp and requested that he prescribed what they recommended would be the best treatment for me, also sent an appointment to see a mh nurse, but I’m not quite sure what it’s for or what she does 😳 also sent a letter asking if I’d be interested in talking therapy and if I am I have to ring to arrange a telephone appointment for an assessment, so I can’t complain as they seem to be trying to help me at the moment, still not loving the side effects of the mirtazapine tho hope it settles down soon as it’s so bad I don’t like driving as It’s effecting my concentration and reaction speed 😬😩
I found Mirtazapine really made me drowsy. It helped get me to sleep, but also made me drowsy during the day which only made me less productive. That's why I went off it and the GP put me on Venlafaxine, which I haven't felt the full effects yet after being on it for over a month. But I do feel less like a zombie.
As for the MH nurse, I think he or she will most likely discuss your options for medication. I remember talking to one myself and it was a quick chat as they don't have much time which is annoying given how long I had to wait for the appointment.
Oh that not good, well fingers crossed they will come up with some options that help x
