Positive affirmation

I was reading an article today. How many of us speak positive things to ourselves? What I found interesting is you speak positive things about your self in the present moment and keep all negative things out of it. Like " I am letting go of this toxic relationship, it is no good for me." That is something you pull away from because it still has a negative tone. You speak , " I will start moving towards positive relationships and positive people in my life." When you speak all positive things to yourself without the negative remarks and tone, it does help. It takes practice, but YOU can do it.

Terriltwin2 - it’s really cool to see your post. I have only recently started trying not to be so negative. It’s sort of seems like when one is depressed and anxious for so long, the brain almost becomes “rewired” (or had some wires crossed to begin with).

I know we’ve all heard the whole “every single action begins with a thought thing”... and I am slowly slowly learning that what I spend 90% of my time thinking about is negative🙄👌🏼😂... it’s a very insidious (not sure if that’s the right word or not lol) because it seems as though the negative messages/negative self talk have become who I am if that makes sense. And I know that’s not true.

Anyway great topic, a nice positive start to the weekend. Thanks for sharing that!

I am happy to see you are slowly turning that around. It is definitely a process. With the brain it's like anything else. Example: you haven't exercised your body in so long and when you start working out your body suffers a change of soreness and tiredness. Your brain is the same way. It has thought negative for so long and the positive thoughts have to be exercised on a daily and moment by moment basis to get a habit going and to work through the old stuff to get it healthy again. Keep up the good work, you will overcome and exercise that brain in a positive way, you will see so many positive results.

I agree. The impact of focusing on positive thoughts as opposed to the negative can help to make significant progress in the process of trying to overcome depression and anxiety. By not dwelling on negative thoughts when they come we can't help but have a more positive outlook on life.

Yes and you can overcome the negative thoughts, but you are so used to going to the negative first. It is a process and also a habit to start thinking positive thoughts. You have to be intentional about it on a daily basis. When you have your positive thoughts come first after exercising this positive thinking, it will come as quick and easy as the negative thoughts did. It takes time, don't quit or give up on it, if you retrain your thoughts into positive ones, you will see your negative thoughts going away and when you think negative, your positive thoughts will override. Just reversal of negative to positive. Speak positive to yourself, leave negative thoughts and tones out of it. You can do this!!! You can conquer anything you put your mind to. Best wishes.

This is great to see!! Being nice to yourself is so simple but also so hard, and something I tend to forget about as well. Thanks for posting :)

There is nothing better than telling yourself nice things. You are worthy of all praise to yourself. I have always been told, we cannot walk forward looking behind us all of the time or we will stumble or fall. That is the way I look at things. Yesterday is gone and we have today. So think high thoughts of yourself for this moment and forward, tell yourself you are worthy to be praised and you are worthy of happiness, or tell yourself " I will conquer this" , it really does help. And you are welcome for posting, we all need encouragement.
