Did anyone experience childhood abuse and end up dissociating it and go through life with the same energy of distancing self from things so you wouldn't be hurt etc. how does one go about changing this method? Or healing from it. It's hurting me a lot in my adult life but I dont know how to go about changing this mindset/behavior.

Abuse and disassociation
Hi Trende,
I am sorry to hear that you have suffered for so long. I am sorry that your ability to find peace and happiness in life has been affected.

Distressing memories, anxiety, blocks to intimacy, and trust issues are common.
Many people are able to overcome or minimize challenges like these with the help of a qualified mental health professional such as a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist who specializes in the subject.
