I'm the same way, before bedtime and in the shower of all places! Haha I try to listen to a good audio book or wait until I can go to sleep as quick as possible. Or else I'll think of the most random things. Mostly negative or irrelevant.
I think mainly about stuff I have 0 to no control over. I usually think about death and the afterlife. Which is the most circular argument to have in your head imo since there real side that has lots of evidence other then the side that I feel is negative for me.
As for managing them I do take medications for the anxious thoughts. You may find that you may not need to. Counseling may help you through it. Support groups like this may also help.
The thing is it doesn't matter. We won't know so why does it matter? We will either just be dead and over. We won't know. Or we will go back to the energy fields of the universe and perhaps if we choose be reborn, which is what I choose to believe. Either way we just have an emotional attachment to things here that make us not want to die. But it's inevitable like breathe. Accept that. And quit worrying. Listen to a meditation or do sleeptime bodhi nidra yoga. It's non moving yogs is very relaxing. Try it.
I try my best to accept it. I think I'm just at a very troubled point in my life. I'm young and a lot of my family died or left me at an early age. I have trouble dealing with loss in general. I just hope it dosnt end. I try to tell my self it dosnt matter. I try to say that if my beliefs are wrong I would never no anyways because I wouldn't exist anymore so why worry. Even thoe I tell myself these things I have a lot of trouble thinking about it.
Non existence is a hard thing for me to even comprehend so I feel I have to find some belief system I can take comfort in.
Try looking on you tube for bodhi nidra bedtime practice. Just listen and you should relax enough to sleep. I hope it helps. It does me and I'm s person whose gone for a month on an hour a sleep at night from racing brain.
Oh wow.... there's some lotion, it's called bedtime lotion and it's sooo soothing have you tried that? Taking a shower at night before bed then applying lotion is AMAZING I advise you! I do it that's what helps me. I do look up some videos on YouTube but normally it's "soothing sounds."
