Folks, I really need some help. My wife, who I love dearly, was diagnosed years ago as suffering from Manic Deoression. She is also disabled and in a wheelchair. That depresses her even more. I am being seen for PTSD and the nightmares prevent me from getting needed sleep. I am zapped by the end of the day. My psychiatrist has given me meds that help with PTSD, stress and anxiety.

We’re both in our 70’s and have been married for 40 years. For the past 15 years I gladly keep our home clean, do the laundry, prepare meals, buy groceries, etc. It seems as if I can’t do enough to make my wife see that I love her and will do anything she wants and I want her to treat me as her husband.

Are there any suggestions as to how I can help our relationship? I feel more like an employee than a husband.

Talk more to your wife, she needs brain stimulation and know that you love her. Most people respond to nice stories or when you were young what you got up to and even if you repeat yourself the stories are appreciated. Conversation is what keeps everyone going and deepens the bond you share. Just simple chat or anything new happening in news or hollywood, just share. That's all really wants, I bet!
