The market for dietary supplements is filled with products that claim to boost mood or improve depression. Some products are even billed as an alternative to prescription antidepressants.
Don't believe everything you read on a label. Often the claims made by supplement manufacturers aren't backed up by solid scientific evidence. The potency and contents of supplements can vary widely. (Some are anything but “natural.”)
Serious depression generally requires professional help, whether or not that includes antidepressant medication.

In general, you get expensive pee. It's better to have a good diet and get some sunshine (only 10 minutes a day for Vitamin D).
You should tell your doctor if taking any vitamins and supplements to guard against affecting the way the antidepressants work.
I just read today that magnesium is important, eating well, sleep and exercise, too!
If you live in the states, the center for integrative medicine is fantastic. They do blood tests to check what you're deficient in and give you supplements according to that.
