Has anybody had success with herbal remedies or vitamins or supplements for anxiety?
I have a scrip for Ativan, but I’m concerned that my doctor won’t refill it, or won’t give me enough, and I need help to get through this. If you have successfully dealt with anxiety using a non-prescription method, what was it? And what dosage?

The leaves of the Lemon Balm plant are a traditional remedy for anxiety. I have never heard of any reports about how effective it is.
Some people on this forum claim that taking a Magnesium supplement is helpful. Worth trying, nothing to lose.
Also the L-Thiamine in Green Tea is believed to reduce cortisol levels particularly when cortisol peaks at 8 a.m. I find it helpful but only when taken as brewed Green Tea, not as a Green Tea or L-Thiamine tablets or capsules.
These and other herbs and vitamins may be useful and anything that may bring respite is worth a try.
However, if you are overwhelmed by anxiety and/or depression and have family or work commitments then it is right to talk to your doctor about a suitable medication. It won't bring recovery but it can bring respite.
The road to recovery lies in talking therapies or in self-help books (supported by YouTube videos) which address the cause of anxiety disorder: the over sensitisation of our nervous systems caused by stress, worry, over work, loss, disappointment and guilt. Too much of any of those for too long lead to anxiety overload.
The best of these self-help methods in my view are based on acceptance of symptoms for the time being. If we resist, the symptoms persist: learn to live with your symptoms and you'll be able to live without them.
I take b12, omega fish oil, vitamin D, at Johns wort... Or should I say I did until November, going back on them tomorrow, I am drinking lots of water again today, decided I'm going to go on medditeraen diet too
I’ve read that fish oil helps and I take some everyday, and when I started taking it I felt great but I hit a rough spot in life and it wasn’t enough. Have you also tried using essential oils for aromatherapy? Lavender and chamomile are relaxing/grounding.
A really good quality b12 or b complex really helped a lot with my anxiety and subsequent physical symptoms. (The one I get is $50 a bottle!!) But also, taking an ativan every now and again doesn't make you a weak person. If it helps, be kind to yourself snd just know you need it to help. No shame in that.
i was given a 0.5 Adavan, it helped me get over my anxiety in 2 months along with a book written by Dr. Clair Weeks " Hope and help for your nerves" purchased from Amazon for under $6.00. I am tapering off Adavan now... It helped me get through the worst part of my anxiety in the begining . Small doses taken daily
