Does anyone have experience adding supplements into their routine? My doctor recommended I start taking L-glutamine, Turmeric, Magnesium, Vitamin B and a probiotic. I currently am on anxiety med (sertraline) and thyroid medicine (levothyroxine). I've been taking the supplements for almost a week now and today just had several panic attacks and gastrointestinal issues. Any support would be appreciated!

Supplements and anxiety
Thanks. I will look into those. Do you take the supplements after your HIIT workout or does the time of day not matter?
Maybe it’s best to add them one at a time since you’re having side effects. Lots of supplements worsen my anxiety
Hi there, I am also on Levothyroxine and take escitalopram as sertraline was not a good match for me.
A few months ago I started taking probiotics, vitamin D and calcium with magnesium and zinc, then I added B12.
I also reduced my consumption of wheat and dairy and increased (a little) my workout routine.
I have noticed a significant reduction in anxiety and depression.
My conclusion was that if the body is on the right level of vitamins and minerals then the meds can work better and be more effective.
Good luck!
Magnesium is great for several things, however it’s harsh in the digestive system and there are some kinds that are more absorbable than others. You can also use magnesium oil applied to your skin if it’s too harsh on your tummy.
Also look at the probiotic strains carefully, they do different things and some are more effective than others.
Thanks! It's crazy how little pills can make such a big difference on our health!
Personally, supplements have been iffy for me in relation to my anxiety. However there is one that I noticed a significant difference with. I started care/of supplements subscription and they have a “chill factor” supplement. It’s Gabba. I’ve found if I take it after a panic attack I can get back to my normal easier. I’d ask your doctor about it, I don’t think there’s been a lot of research on it yet.
Otherwise, make sure you’re eating when you take them and you’re communicating with your doctor regularly about any changes in mood!
b vitamin complex (I think it's the B12 in it) really hype me up and cause anxiety. Magnesium helps me sleep so I take that at bedtime. You could find a balance between those two. I do use Mag for regularity and you have to balance that to. It's good to start with low doses or as suggested add one at at time.
Yes, I do. I also Google the medicine I'm taking. Other than being on Sertraline, you need to avoid the situation or environment that is causing it. I learned over my life time, that a combination of chemicals, foods, medicines and supplements can all create a problem that looks like anxiety. When you do know anything, some people will tell you anything. There are so many triggers, including the air we breathe. There are a multitude of illnesses and diseases that mimic each other. I'm not a vegetarian, I tried it didn't work for me. Don't use one website to validate a supplement or anything else your looking up. Use the most reputable and subscribe.
No. but it sounds like a good idea.
