Herbal supplements? Xanax? Esketamine?

I'm trying to find a supplement for my daily depression meds that work generally but then I'll hit a huge slump and would love an as needed med for those times. Obviously something to work with my psychiatrist on, but I would love to know what has been effective for you all.

I ordered some St. John's Wort supplements because I've heard it's effective (I'm skeptical but ya gotta try everything).

I'm also interested in Xanax but not sure if it's good for depression/mood stuff or just anxiety, and I'm interested in the new nasal esketamine but I know it's hard to find since it's so new.

I noticed a small difference with Tumeric for depression - but anxiety is my primary issue. I eventually decided to say yes to Zoloft and it is helping a bit.

Thank you! Do you know the dose of tumeric you should take to have benefits for depression? Gabapentin (med, not supplement) has been helpful for me and my anxiety, so maybe look into that for your anxiety?

I did try gabapentin but it had some side effects I didn't like. As for the tumeric, it depends on the brand I think. There are usually recommendations on the label and you can'd OD on it.

I've tried this brand and have no complaints:

I have heard the nasal spray is only offered in certified clinics for now. I'm really excited that it has come out!

St. John's wort is good for depression without the side effects, im taking it. I would stay away from xanax. It works very well and fast but you can get hooked on it and has long term negative issue to your brain and too many chronic physical health issue, it's hard to get off it. I'm trying to get off it and it's very hard to impossible for me. I would look into natural ways of supplements to cope with Anxiety and depression. CBD oil, changing diet to more plant based foods, less meats, sugar, salt, junk foods and more exercise, coping skills and meditation is saving me right now. My opinion, any kind of prescription drugs masks our symptoms, and causes all kinds of side effects. I would look into a ND. Good luck and God bless.

Thank you for the tips, and best of luck getting off of the xanax!!! I have had success with meditation too, it's just so hard for me to get myself to do it- same with exercise. I'm glad you're having success with them.

Xanax cannot be prescribed by doctors in the U.K., the alternative is diazepam.

Only by private prescription not NHS prescription. That's what several online sources say anyway.

I'd stay away from Xanax and other Benzos if possible. If not, use the lowest dose and stay on them very short term. They can do some really bad damage, especially brain. I'll never be the same.

Turmeric usually works better if combined with bioperine. Google it.

I've been on xanax. I was told doctors don't like to give it to because it's highly addictive. Xanax isn't a long term medicine it's for the now.

I took a mood stabilizer that my psychiatrist prescribed and it helped me, It was called Abilify but I did not know that it causes weight gain. I went from 140 pounds to a little of 200 pounds. I read up on mood stabilizers and it causes your fat cells to grow even if you don’t eat. So I got depressed because I got overweight. I stopped taking it and lost 50 pounds. But it did help with my depression and I took it with my anti depressant. It’s worth mentioning to your psychiatrist.
