Hello
Hi Shay,
I was fairly recently diagnosed bipolar II. I also have GAD. So I must take medication for both. I'm very functional with my meds and I hope you will be, too. Look at it that way and you'll be fine. Don't settle for not feeling well, let your Dr. know if you aren't doing well on your medicine. Let the doc get the medicines just right for you.
Do you know if you're bipolar I or II? Either way, it's best not to go without drugs, so I'm glad you are getting on drugs. I can't imagine trying to live without them. I think life would be very crazy. I probably wouldn't be able to sleep much. And just that alone would drive me batty.
I don't want you to feel alone, so talk to me or ask me something if you want to. There's a website just for bipolar people that I think you might like. There isn't a bipolar community here, so I doubt they'll mind my giving you the name of one. It's called bipolarsupport.org. It may take a little while to know your way around, but these are friendly people and they're just talking and learning to cope with their bipolar lives and it's challenges.
They have a lot of knowledge and experience that I don't have. They always recommend that you have a psychiatrist and a counselor. I echo that recommendation. I have always had either my psychiatrist counsel me or I go to a separate counselor. My current counselor is a LMHC (licensed mental health counselor) and we've had 17 years together. I love her! I only go 1 x month because I don't have much to go for, just to keep her in the loop. And something always pops up to talk about.
I hope you get very comfortable with your treatment and with talking about yourself. Take care and write back if you're interested.
if you have bipolar, you should be on meds. They will help you.I recently met a girl who was diagnosed with bipolar. she started medication and feels very good now. Talk to a Dr.
