Med phobia

Hi everyone. I've been trying to handle the anxiety better than my last post. I've been trying breathing exercises, hot baths, distracting myself with crafts and even just being more in the moment. However today I woke with a tooth that is abscessed:(

I'm extremely fearful of the dentist and meds.

How do you all cope with dentist appointments? and I know I will need an antibiotic it's clearly infected. I have a terrible time taking medication sometimes including Advil or Tylenol.

Any suggestions appreciated

Sunny,

Generally I've found that if I'm anxious about something it's best just to do it right away and get it over with. It ends up never being quite as bad as I think it's going to be. I can see how this would be difficult with a dentist appointment because they sometimes need to be scheduled a long way off. I guess my advice would be to call around and get in to see someone right away. "Ripping the Band-Aid off" is never as easy as it sounds when you deal with anxiety. But as difficult as it is, I've found it to be the best approach. Good luck.
