Antioxidants, spasticity, fatigue, depression, spasms.

Folks.

So, I went through a huge depression. I just didn't care about anything. I even got fired from my job, still don't care. I'll get my union to sue for wrongful dismissal.

It was all a struggle, and I just didn't care about anything. Felt like I'd gone over a precipice, the spasticity, tiredness in my legs, couldn't stand up for more than 5 minutes, fatigue, then the depression on top. Then I lost my job.

But after I got axed, I had a good think about what exactly had gone wrong. See, I was taking so much 4-ap, and Modafinil. Lethargy is not an option on Modafinil, and the 4-ap has never failed me.

But I was taking so much 4-ap, my legs were like lead, spasticity through the roof, tired all the time.

One thing I had stopped was the antioxidants. I'd taken them for about six months. Still had kilos of bulk powder stacked away.

Two weeks ago, I weighed out a month's worth of doses. I also quadrupled my coenzyme q10 and doubled my Vitamin C.

One more I added was Vitamin E. I missed that off 6 month's ago.

Only took a day, I felt fantastic. Better than good. Taking 50% less 4-ap, same Modafinil dose but now it works just like when I first started, back in the day. Hyper wide-awake.

Though, the more I read about coenzyme q10, I'm probably wasting my money. Bioavailabity, you see. Then again, plenty of other scientific papers attest to it's efficacy. Much better is Mito-Q, highly bioavailable, goes straight to your mitochondria. Not cheap at all.

The strength I feel in my legs is phenomenal, though, as usual, after a fortnight the antioxidants are losing their bite.

I'm going to try and stick to a 5 day's on, 2 off to see if that keeps everything working correctly.

Incidentally, mod4all emailed me and sent me some 4-ap for free. Seems I'm not the only one with health problems.

Forgot to mention the Piracetam as well. The Modafinil/4-ap/Piracetam combo is fantastic for both fatigue and spasticity. I've done all kinds of experiments with the dosages/timings, etc. This is no placebo. Like I've said before, I either fall over, or I don't. It's as simple as that.

If you accept the free-radical theory of ageing (and I do) and you accept the idea that we are all enduring oxidative damage from the VLCFA's then it stands to reason that antioxidants can be nothing but good for diseases such as ours.

That antioxidants can become prooxidants under certain circumstances is also a fact, as is the evidence that supplements are money down the drain, for normal people .

Then again, we ain't "normal people"

I even stopped with the Gabapentin, I was enjoying it a bit too much, wasn't getting anything done.

Nightmare, this disease. One thing I cannot shake is the spasms. So many things work (short term), Vitamin D, Benzos, Gabapentin, booze. But the spasms always come back. The only things that consistently work are Gabapentin and Lyrica. I'll get some more tomorrow, but it's a dangerous game. Dosages escalate rapidly.

Anyway, take care folks. We all have a long journey ahead of us.

I'm sorry to hear about losing your job. Will you go on the job hunt? This is one area that is sensitive to me as I currently have excellent benefits and would not want to take unnecessary chances with a new employer - yes, such thoughts have crossed my mind. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best.

As for my dosage of 4-ap, I had increased it to the max 20mg/4 capsules per day, but as you mentioned, my legs were heavy. The initial dizziness I experienced never did go away completely. My current max is 15mg/3 capsules and if I'm not particularly active that day (not working out or walking very much), I'll make do with just 10mg. This works for me right now. Baclofen is at most 5mg/half tablet before bed. I skipped a night or two and I slept just fine.

I shall sue them and I shall win. My union is terrifying .

Done me a favour anyway. At this rate I don't have many years left.

Starting on Low Dose Naltrexone this week. Got some ages ago, never took any. Superb anti-inflammitory. Must be other ways to ameliorate the damage the VLCFA's are undoubtedly doing.

Thanks a lot julie_ ,I still feel my problems are not nearly so bad as plenty on this board though.
