Docataxel now

I am a 80 year old cheerleader for Docataxel. First treatment was Jan. 27, 2021. 16th treatment was yesterday, November 14, 2023…….I feel GREAT…….they started adding Dexamethasone on infusion and it is a game changer. …a12-18 hour window of no pain from the DEXA….Normal sequence is 21 days apart for up to initial 6 treatments. PSA dropped after each treatment…..taking Orgovyx daily at same time….vacation from chemo until MO and I started up again. SOC for most is 6 treatments at a time but after 12 my MO let me call the treatment schedule. Plenty of data here and other websites on the results of “doublet” or “triplet” therapy…..Zytiga and Firmagon didn’t work long for me……understand Docataxel is not really a direct medicine……..it is poison, plain and simple…..MO might not want to call it that but………it KILLS, cancer cells and others…….

I never regretted going on it and hoping to break the most chemo record for one patient here at the Seattle Cancer Center in Issaquah.

Quick bio:

Diagnosed 3+4 Gleason June 2004 at U of W, Treated with Cryotherapy at USC in LA with Dr. Doug Chinn, now retired in November 2004, started, HIFU in Germany 2016, then Firmagon and Zytiga in 2016(12 year vacation) with LOTS of biopsies, now Orgovyx daily and chemo when I call for it……passed on Enzulutamide and Darolutamide, they are medicine, and I want the proven poison.

One of my oncologists says "all drugs are poisonous".

Well I can’t say other drugs are poisonous but my infusion nurses have to wear special gowns and protective clothing when they are hooking me up. Still, like they always say, “That means it’s working for you”.

When I had early chemo per CHAARTED I felt like I had been poisoned, absolutely miserable, probably the lowest point in the almost 10 years since dx. Glad it’s working for you.

Do we need to send you some Angel wings to try on? Come on, this site is about survival and what works.

Why 16 treatments?

Docataxel is the only thing that lowers my PSA………really have to watch your Hemoglobin , Hemocrit, red and white blood scores plus liver enzymes along with neutrophil/lymphocytes ratio….which I do.

You should change your moniker to Superman. No one would jeer or criticize.

I am having Docetaxel for the second time in 6 years. PSA responded well the first time with 6 treatments. I am signed up for 10 treatments this time. Using dexamethasone as the steroid and getting Grastofil shots for 8 days. The first treatment was very tolerated. I noticed they use the steroid continuously now. High dosage for a few days during treatment and a low dose thereafter.

“Low dose thereafter”……Are you using on going steroid treatment AFTER your infusion day?

Dex 8mg twice a day for 3 days then 1.5mg until next infusion

Different from the first time. They wanted to give me Prednisone but I asked for Dex because I that is what I had the first time

Also I was already taking Dex because I just completed some targeted radiation
