A question about Chemo

After about a year and a half Orgovyx and Zytiga my PSA began to double. My MO started me on Taxotere which has dropped my PSA and my anemia is a little better. What I would like to know is should I stop the other drugs? My MO wants me to stop all drugs except the Chemo. Is he correct? Poollover

ADT is always continued.

Trials show good results by adding Xtandi or Xofigo to chemo.

Good point. So Lupron is always continued through radiation, chemo, carboplatin, Pluvicto, immunotherapy, whatever? How about Zytiga that is failing? Does one stop it at any point? Thanks

are you taking reduced dose chemo or full dose ? Did you discuss luteitium too ?

My best wishes to you 🤗🤗

About 80% due to my advanced age. I'm 87.

I was on ADT (Lupron) and an ARSI (Nubeqa) the entire time I received docetaxel under the ARASENS triplet protocol. I've never heard of anyone ever stopping ADT during chemo.

Did you start Nubeqa before beginning chemo, at same time, or after? Thanks

Chemo started about 4 or 5 weeks after the Nubeqa, which meets the ARASENS criteria and Nubeqa labeling ("Begin docetaxel infusions within 6 weeks"). They consider that "at the same time" in all the literature I've seen.

Thanks, I've never been sure about that timing.

You should not stop adt (Orgovyx) when in docetaxel. If you can ask for triplet therapy:Adt(Orgovyx or Firmagon)+docetaxel+Nubeqa(darolutamide)(or Xtandi). That is the best treatment. But dont stop Adt(hormone)treatment!

Had I known what I know now when I started on this journey, I would have gone the triplet way, especially since I was stronger than then now. It's clear that my MO is very conservative. I have had only one dose so far of the docetaxel, which has dropped my PSA in half, but more importantly my blood work shows improvement. For how long????????

Been on Zytiga 5 years and PSA remains very low. I also had testicles removed which may be the difference

My husband started taking Zytiga and Lupron about nine years ago. He took a vacation from the meds after about two years and two years later, PSA started going up. Back on the Zytiga and Lupron. Likely on them permanently unless they start to fail. He has never been on chemo. Best to you.
