In March 2017, I got sepsis and e-coli just 3 days after my prostate biopsy. My Biopsy results said I had stage 4 advanced Prostate Cancer. Gleason score 4+4. My pic line for the antibiotics I had to take at home, moved 3 weeks later and I had to go to the emergency room. The doctors told me I had cancer in my right lung. Started ADT Therapy (Lupron shot every 3 months). I went into surgery for a prostatectomy, my surgery was stopped after 3 doctors tried and failed to remove my prostate. My cancer tumor had attached itself to my rectum. 4 weeks later, I had the lower third lobe of my right lung removed for prostate cancer. My Doctors wanted me to have radiation seeds. I elected not to take radiation. I switched hospitals and doctors. UPMC Hillman Center, Dr Appleman wanted me to take extra strong docetaxel over 18 weeks. The end of Chemo was November 2017. I continue Lupron shots every 3 months. January 2019 I started eating a Whole Plant-based Food with Salmon occasionally. My PSA was .1, this past June and it dropped to .05. I continue with the Tumeric in my fruit smoothie every morning, along with my Whole Plant Based Diet. Many of my other blood results improved too. My last scans June 19th showed that my cancer tumor was now against my bladder. I will continue my testing every three months and scans every 6 months. I have been asked to speak to new medical students on how to deal with terminally ill patients. I have the typical Neuropathy in my legs and I have also been diagnosed with Sjogren's, Lupus and RA too.
With this all said, I feel extremely Lucky to be in this good of health. I want to wish all the other Cancer patients and their care givers the very best wishes. Remain Strong for Live is work fighting for. Also make sure you, thank all the people around you, who support your fight and those who have helped you in life!! Best Regards, Wolfy 74

UPMC are doing some of the stereotactic radiation trials for oligometastatic disease (less than 5 tumors)...you may qualify--your cancer on scans has been in your pelvic area....a new hydrogel has been used to block radiation damage to the rectum...I saw you refused radiation seeds, but radiation itself is a different matter--stereotactic is 3-5 sessions and done.... Good luck to you and keep fighting and posting...Take care....
No, just the lung. I have developed a tumor in my thyroid, but the doctors don't seem too concerned. My TSH number always climbs to about 6 plus right before my Lupron shot and then it drops back to about 3 in a few days. Good Luck to you.
"a prespecified analysis showed that prostate radiotherapy did improve overall survival (from 73% to 81% at 3 years) in those with a low metastatic burden, which represented 40% of the comparison population."
It was a process so that I could move forward. No regrets now, at the time I thought my days were numbed. Sometimes being forced to see things as terminal, is a sobering time. It forced me to be more of a patient advocate. Not to be afraid to politely and sometimes confrontationally ask the difficult questions and question the results I was being told. Getting fresh eyes on your case can be a good thing.
My best friend, that I met on my first day of Chemo just over a year ago. He had 27 tumors and now he is down to just 2. He has stage 4 Advanced Melanoma. Questioning and researching his treatments and having a wonderful oncologist. Has made his recovery so far a miracle. His story is a good one to hear who is also fighting cancer. Best of Luck to you too. Stay Strong my Friend.
Lupron may help with your autoimmune issues. In a paper published this year [1], men on ADT had a 38% less chance of developing one of a long list of autoimmune diseases, including the three you mention. So presumably, ADT might lessen the factors that induce an autoimmune response.
Interestingly, the reason may not be the elimination of testosterone. It was reported some years ago that the flu shot was not very effective in men with normal-high testosterone [T]. T dampens the immune response needed to produce the antibodies.
