ED is caused by the choice of therapy.

Does this mean that the patuent has the choice?

In the US, the patient has always (at least until now) had the choice on all treatments. Of course, dependence on private health insurance can create a big financial affordability consideration in the patient's decisions.

It’s your body, your choice.

Every case is unique, so no blank statements apply to any individual.

Of all my treatments (surgery, radiation, chemo, ADT), Lupron was by far the worst on my sex life and I'm not aware of anything that can counter the loss of libido that it caused.

No, but there are things a man MUST do to off-set atrophy.

All depending on what is done… I had prostate removed and only had partial nerve sparing.

What I did, 1 month after catheter was removed, I started on daily low dose Cialis 5mg.

2 months after catheter was removed, I began using the pump to retain size/girth.

I began to have morning erections at around the 8 month mark, though I was also under the care of a sexual rehabilitation specialist… he put me on tri-mix injections.

I cannot have an erection that is useful for intercourse, so I have to either use the pump or, tri-mix injection.

Frankly, it’s all been a terrible experience but we are able to enjoy what we have left.

It’s better for her than myself, I can still orgasm but not yet with intercourse and of course, there is always oral.

Hopefully your situation is better than mine and that nerve sparing techniques can be used.

Never give up, sex is a life force and is very important to keep your intimacy alive.

Wishing you the best

But if he is taking zoladex, do the things you mentioned still work?

I don’t know Zoladex, this has been my sexual odyssey being on Lupron and Nubeqa… fully chemically castrated, but still have an interest in sex. See if you can get scheduled with sexual rehabilitation specialist. I don’t know where you are in the country, I’m currently a patient of Dr Mulhall MSK NYC.

Frankly, I didn’t expect much as half my nerves are gone, but I can and do!

I was expecting to have a surgical implant, that’s a last resort.

No, it’s not the end. It will probably be different, but - depending on how you manage it, it can also become something fantastic. For some, it can even bring them closer and make sex even more intimate - it’s all about how you run with it.

- Make use of cilais/viagra/etc

- Use a penis pump daily, if nocturnal erections stop, to keep the member healthy.

- if viagra/cilais isn’t enough for ”usable” erections, there are bimix/trimix shots. Talk to your doctor. A penis pump with penis rings also works great for some.

- Also, lot’s of fantastic sex don’t require an erection.

- Most important of all - talk about it. The sexual side effects from aPC treatments can be hard to manage for us men. Being open, positive, talking about it and normalizing can make wonders.

Hello Majedsh,

I also have had a rough journey, but we are working on it!

The new method is the Tri-Mix at this time. The Urologist has suggested penile implants that will pump up...

Personally We are going to continue with the tri-mix product.

AND - Sometimes you have to get creative! My wife is 70 and I'm 66... and 25 years married this month...

You might help to open the channels to open up the 'creativity' for the future!

I'm not sure how you could initiate a conversation about this, but if you are married, creativity is always possible!

Just be a bit sensitive with your delivery... Your man may be insecure as his 'manhood' could become wounded... I sure was!!!

We have worked through it though... so I know it can be done!

Don't Give Up!

Not what you're looking for?
