PYLARIFY diagnostic could not find prostate cancer cells, then a surprise!

Prostate removed December 2015, had Gleason 9. Diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer September 2018, immediately treated with 40 radiation sessions over 8 weeks, and started 45mg. Lupron every six months. After two years, Lupron was replaced with 22.5mg. Eligard (quarterly), and 60mg. Prolia every six months. PSA was slowly increasing and in December 2021, PSA was 0.37, testosterone 25.7 My doctor ordered the latest diagnostic test that utilizes PYLARIFY to flag the location of prostate cancer cells. The test result was negative, they could not locate a single prostate cancer cell – I was thrilled!! Soon after, April 2022, my routine quarterly blood test indicated PSA at 0.57, and testosterone 28.0. Obviously, I am extremely disappointed -- I still have the beast. The plan is to continue current treatment, and to get the PYLARIFY diagnostic again early 2023. Doctor also mentioned starting NUBEQA if the rate of PSA doubling accelerates. I am 71 years old and in otherwise good health, but still wonder about my life expectancy. Someone please share their honest opinion about my life expectancy based on your experience or that of a loved one or friend. Please.

I was told by my medical oncologist that your psa had to be >0.5 before he will give psma pylarify. When mine gets to that point, I will have it done.

Good luck

I too thought the PSA needed to be slightly higher.

Nubeqa is a good choice.

Nubeqa has a median progression free survival of around 38 months. Then there are many other treatments in the SOC and in clinical trials which can prolong survival.

Your life expectancy could be anything; just watch out for the bus if you cross the street.😀

I am closer to that TwilightZone since I am 76 and a worry wart. My Dx was on Feb. 2019, Gleason 9 with whole spine Mets. Proton pencil beam to ablate my prostate and the prostate bed. 20 sessions of proton radiation. On Zytiga, Lupron with Predinsone ever since. My PSA is 0.121 at present and slowly climbing. I workout and walk 3 to 5 days a week. Plus I have been a plant based eater for over 50 years. I get my PSA done every month and chart it to see the trend. So, it sounds like you have a good MO and he will work with you. As hard as it is, try to not think about Pca every day. It is very hard for me but I try to designate 2 or 3 days of no cancer.

With Pca it will be with us for the rest of our lives But it does not need to run our lives.

Your doing great so keep it up and enjoy life.

Thank you so much for your guidance.....if fact I'm going to adopt your approach "NO THINKING ABOUT CANCER DAYS!" I too am a worrywart.

Now lets us calculate.....71 years old plus 19 more years of sex and drug parties. By my old math you will be 90 years old and finally slowing down....No one really knows but that's called "the secret of life".......Keep going!!!

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
