I'll start with this disclosure: I'm not a medical professional, anything I add here is solely my understanding as an adult with ADHD. You need to talk to a medical professional, trained in helping someone with ADHD, before starting any medication.

The five most common stimulant medicatios are:

1. Methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta)

2. Amphetamine (Adderall)

3. Dexmethylphenidate (Focalin)

4. Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse)

5. Dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine)

The five most common non-stimulant medications are:

1. Atomoxetine (Strattera)

2. Guanfacine (Intuniv)

3. Clonidine (Kapvay)

4. Bupropion (Wellbutrin)

5. Modafinil (Provigil)

Just an FYI

Adderall is actually a mix of amphetamine & dextroamphetamine.

(It's sometimes referred to as "mixed amphetamine salts, or "amphetamine mixed salts".)
