Going to give it a go : Can anyone help 8 weeks... - Active 10
Going to give it a go
Hope went well your new hip I am having 4weeks time and I am I am a little worried about having done
Please don't worry sore for about a week and then starts to ease I thought it would be worse just take care and do as your told you will be fine
Dont be it's the best thing ever Like any op it's not the nicest thing but I was sitting up having a lovely cup of tea chatting to my son on the phone 3 hours after ! My main advice is take it easy afterwards and don't try to rush things when I look back I started to feel better so overdid it and regretted it I had mine done in late March and am now starting to feel like I used to and it's great
If you need to chat please do I didn't know anyone else who had it done plus I was sent to a private hospital which was wonderful but I was in a room on my own so didn't get to chat to others to swap notes
Please don't worry Wishing you all the very best you will be a new person afterwards xx
Thankyou so much I think I am worrying because my husband will have to do all the driving and with him Been 88 he not young any more .but thankyou for that advice I have got holiday booked for 8 week after op do you think I will be ok to I am going to Portugal x
I can understand how you are feeling but try not to worry
Yes I'm sure you will be fine for your holiday if you take it carefully The physio they give you is wonderful and I was amazed what they let me do treadmill bike etc ! They will also give you lots of advice on your holiday
I am a volunteer for a local charity that takes people to hospital/doctors appointments it might be worth checking out at your doctors to see if you have one if that would help ?
Please contact me if there is anything you want to ask about the operation I promise I won't tell you anything negative xx
Have you been given any instructions from your surgeon? After my stomach surgery the hospital had some good information online about how to get mobile again. The only advice I would offer is do less to start off with and build up. It is better to not push yourself and be able to keep going than crash and burn. Also at 8 weeks you will still be getting over the anaesthetic and healing so treat yourself with a lot of tender loving care.
I am now 3 months post hip replacement and just started walking a bit more now My doctor told me on Friday that walking is the best exercise
I've just replied to your other post that you said you did half an hour dog walking that's great I found though that I tried to rush my recovery and so now I listen to my body I would say half an hour daily is perfect as long as you take it easy and make sure when you get back you rest
It's just wonderful to be getting back to normal isn't it a new lease of life
By the way I'm a Sheila too ! 😉
