How has you week been this week and what do you plan to do next week?
Have you got a plan to keep your fitness levels up over December this year. For some it is the cold, dark and rain that keeps us indoors, for some it is too many late nights and feeling shattered the next day.
Or Is it the chance to have some little treats and not worry too much about the Waistline that gets you out the door, or do you need a little Me time when the house is full.
This is time of year there are so many reasons to stay in and still so many reasons to go out.
So the challenge is set your self a plan that works for you and try to stick to it.
December 1- 3rd write your plan down and post it on here. You know once it is in writing it matters 😀
( make the plan achievable for you, don’t stretch your self too much and take into consideration everything that is going on)
It could be:-
I will try to step out the door 2-3 times a week no matter for how long
I will try to go for at least a 10 min walk ....... times a week.
I will go for a long walk ....... a week
Every week I will put a catch up post. So we can all say how we are doing.
Catch up Posts dates.
4th to the 10th December
11th to the 17th December
18th to the 24th December
25th to 31st December.
Let’s all keep our fitness levels up through December and go into the New Year knowing we are all still motivated
If your injured or ill take care of yourself and only do what you can, just being mindful of what your body needs is a great thing for your general well being and obviously you can join this challenge any time so even if you come In the last week of December asking to join you are still welcome.

Long walk saturday, followed by some dancing at a Christmas party, 7km speed walk Monday and training tonight. Missed my swim and run this week as I am a bit tired, the Christmas parties have started and I find it hard to get enough energy for all my exercise and out late nights. ☹️ I have a party free week next week so hopefully back to the pool as well as my walks.
What was great was I walked and danced with MrRfc, this time last year and for a few years before it really hasn't been possible so we made up for it 😀.
Well, my intention of upping my walking on Sundays went out the window last week unfortunately, but I did get some longer walks in the other days, so it's not too bad. As holidays get closer the routine seems to go out the window. I have a few walking dates with friends over the next few weeks, and nearer to the end of the month I've signed up for tailwalking at Parkrun, so I just need to motivate myself more on the days that I'm on my own.
It is really hard these few weeks, Christmas might only be one day but it takes over the whole month 😀. It is easier getting out with friends though as no one like to let the others down. My Dad has got an activity monitor and is getting quite competitive with himself, so this year it might be easier to get Him out walking
My plan while at work tends to get my steps in so I don't worry - but at weekends and Fridays (my day off) I tend to relax.
Hope to put some walks in my schedule over the Xmas break as I am off for two weeks (weather permitting). Plus we dog mind for my son which kind of takes care of exercise on those days! 🐶
Good luck to all those taking part in organised walks/runs.
All the build up to Xmas will certainly keep us active so we are allowed a few days off! 🎄🍷🎉!
Your right about the build up. I spent this week trying to sort the spare room out so my dad can sleep in it. 😀 That’s an exercise in its self. Dogs are great for getting you outdoors and walking. Enjoy your two week off.
I notice a big difference in weekday walking and weekend walking as well. Enjoy your holidays and your walking.
I am under a physio for a damaged knee but that isn't stopping me as I am on the exercise bike for half an hour 5-6 times a week along with using weights and floor exercises as well as my phsio exercises. This normally take me around an hour and 10 minutes. I don't particularly like exercising indoors but at the moment it's needs must as I can't afford to damage my knee any more.
I am also trying to keep up with a reasonably healthy diet as well.
All the best to you all with your exercise regimes and a happy Christmas and New Year.
Ah, I hear you about indoor exercising, earlier this year I was stuck with indoor mall walking. I hope you heal up quick and can get back out there soon.
Thank you and appreciate your response. It is so hard being stuck indoors with exercise. I have another physio appointment this coming Wednesday and the physio should see an improvement. I haven't done any exercise today as I've had the grandchildren out but am doing a Santa Fun Run tomorrow, it will be a walk not a run and it's not very far. I may go on the bike when I come home but will definitely be back on it on Monday.
