Can the pill stop sertraline from working?

DauntlessInitiate profile image

Since I stated the pill about three weeks ago I feel as if I am going back to being sad and upset for no reason again. I don't know what to do because I don't know how to change this and I'm afraid it might affect my relationship..

Hi I am on sertraline but haven't a clue I'm afraid. I presume your doctor wouldn't have prescribed you the pill if s/he thought it would affect your ad. Why not ask the pharmacist? They are the experts in drugs. x

Oh man, I'm going through the exact same thing right now. I'm on sertraline as well and since I've been on the pill, things I normally do to make me feel better don't work like they did and I feel numb and depressed ALL the time...sucks! As for me, I'm going to switch to another brand of birth control and see if it helps. Also I hope to talk to a psychiatrist about it soon. Good luck!

I don't have your problem---I'm too old--- but Sertraline stopped working for me.After a few years, I slipped back into depression and had to have a different tablet. It isn't working either. Ask for the info you need from a professional. All the best.

Some particular versions of the pill increase oestrogen which is responsible for emotionality so it may be linked to your depression recurring, see your GP.

I was seeing a naturopathic doctor for a bit who told me the pill depletes b vitamins. And according to the internet, b vitamins play a key role in the production of serotonin. I'm on a multivitamin which includes b vitamins but it ain't working like I want it to. Trying to be patient.
