Excessive bleeding.

I started my periods yesterday, they are two weeks early. I get bad periods any way so never thought too much of it. But as the day went on the pain got worse and worse. When i went to bed that night I woke up around 4am and had soaked right through on to my bed sheets (sounds disgusting but it was literally a blood bath). I had a shower, changed sheets and changed sanitary pad. I went back to bed and felt myself soaking right through again about 20 mins later. Iv had to changed tampons/pads around 3 times in 1 hour. I went to the doctor today she said that it sounds like a bad period bout as I havent misscarried. I have very intense pain on my lower right hand side, I dont have an ovary on that side or appendix. Just wondering for any advice or if someone has had similar issues. X

Poor you. I have had very heavy periods for years...so much that I didn't go out for 2 days and slept lying on a towel. I was recently introduced to tranexamic acid tablets. I take 2 every 8 hours for 2ish days, and they have changed my life! Have you investigated the reason behind the heavy periods? I found out that my thyroid was under active and that heavy periods could be one of the symptoms. I hope you find something to help. You shouldn't have to deal with this. Good luck! 😊

Most of us will have had an unusually heavy period at one time or another, and will be able to empathise 😕

I typed ‘bleeding’ in the search box and various links appeared. A reply to ‘dendon123’ also recommended Tranexamic Acid, and went on to say their particular investigations had found a large Fibroid. Obviously this won't be the case for everybody, but you might find it helpful to read through the posts 🙂xB

Is there another doctor you can see? I would want this investigated immediately. Would you consider going to A&E?

I went back to the docs today and got given tablets to reduce the bleeding, mefenemic acid? I also commented on how I am exhausted and very light headed, but they can’t give me a blood test until next week. I woke up this morning the exact same, only a lot of blood clots throughout the day :(

The doctor could have ordered urgent blood tests. I think I would go to A&E. Having said that , I know it can be difficult there. Is there anyone who can go with you? Or go back to GP again - or call GP and say how weak, exhausted and light headed you feel.

Are you able to drink lots of water or any fluids?

Have you ever had any investigations? Any Ultrasound scans?

Have you ever had an Internal / Transvaginal Ultrasound scan?

This is the first time i have ever bled like this but i have had scans before because i only have one ovary.

I would go to A&E just dont want to be told the same thing again:( makes me feel silly sometimes lol.

Iv been drinking plenty.

Im just really worried esp with all the blood clots

Isn't there someone who could go to A&E with you?
