Safaryl- Yasmin (estrogen-dispronone) MAJOR DEPRESSION

Wow, this is my 3rd attempt at a birth control pill. I've tried ortho tricyclene & Lutera. I was able to take Lutera for 8 months until the depression hit me hard so had to stop. The ortho tricyclene I had to stop on day 12 I was so physically sick & mentally depressed. My doc really thought Safaryl would work for me. I do have underlying depression & antidepressants do not work for me. I just had to stop the safaryl on day 13 mid-cycle. I've never had depression hit me so hard within the past week. I literally could not function. I tried reaching my doctor for 3 days, so I had no choice but to stop. I've only been off the pill 2 days & notice improvement already. I also had major muscle aches which were insane. I had this pain occasionally on Lutera. Unfortunately now my cycles will be a mess again with terrible pms, heavy bleeding & insane cramps. Has anyone else experienced this with birth control pills? All of my friends are fine on whatever a doctor puts them on. So frustrating. I just want to be able to regulate my cycles & live without days of insane cramps.

Hi there

Have you considered other forms of contraception? I was reluctant to try anything other than tablets, but due to a serious health issue 7 years ago which nearly cost me my life, i had no real choice but to change what I used.

I was recommended the coil due to the hormone in it. I was surprised at how good it actually was for me! My periods are less heavy, the cramps more barable and I'm less emotional too!

Maybe something to look into if you haven't already!

Hope you soon find something that works for you soon 🙂

Do you mean an IUD? My doctor said the Skyla IUD would probably be my best bet if this pill didn't work for me. This one has the lowest amount of levongesterol. I'm the only person I know who also gets nauseous when they stop the pill. I can't win!

Yes it's an IUD (coil). Best thing for me! Can they not prescribe you anti-sickness medication?
