Hi, I'm new here but am hoping for some advice. Up until a few weeks ago I have always been as regular as clockwork with my periods, but I am now 3 weeks late. I have taken a home pregnancy test which were negative so I'm thinking menopause as I'm 45 years old. I went to the doctor to discuss what is happening to me as I wasn't prepared for my periods to just suddenly stop, but when I saw this Dr she actually rolled her eyes at me and abruptly asked what I was worried about! I'm concerned because my boobs hurt like hell, I've been getting cramps for at least 3 weeks and my period still hasn't come. I've also been getting palpitations. She finally looked at my records and decided to increase my thyroxine dose but didn't offer any kind of advice about the menopause and associated symptoms. Any advice you ladies can give me would be very much appreciated x

Hi😊
This sort of attitude from a medical professional isn't helpful.
During perimenopause hormone levels (FSH) can change frequently throughout the menstrual cycle, so although GPs can do a blood test to confirm levels at any specific time, this might not actually be useful. You can read about perimenopause on nhs.uk
You could also post your query on HealthUnlocked ThyroidUK, you may get a more helpful response🙂xB
I can sympathise with being unprepared for Perimenopausal symptoms. It's something I didn't realise existed until I looked it up! Is there another Doctor you could see at your Health centre?
At the eye rolling i would have reported her. Rude. Im lost for more words
