Started Monday and already seeing the differences. Have lost 6lb since Monday and 3cm off waist, 1.5cm off arms and 1.5cm off thighs. The extra exercise is making such a difference!

I don't normally do weekly weigh ins ( or ritual humiliation as i usually call it ) but i'm going to give this a go & hopefully it will help motivate me to stay on track :o) since this is the 1st one i'll start from begining.

Highest known weight 248lb

Starting (again) weight as on 21.01.13 188lb

after 1 week (28.01.13) 184lb

after 2 weeks (04.02.13) 181lb

so thats a total loss of 7lb since i restarted and 67lb since my highest known weight. My weigh day is a monday because thats what day i restarted. Hoping i may have lost a bit more since Monday and i'll post next Mondays figures next week.

Still got a long way to go but i'm hoping i'll get there eventually

hope everyone has had a good week.

Started today

14st which is my heaviest though I have yoyo'd between this and 11st, three times in last 14 years. I am 5ft 4" so clinically obese. My goal for this week is simply to stick to the plan and lose weight. This will be my first diet counting calories as previous weight losses were results of faddy diets. Fingers crossed I'll get it right this time.

Started monday, weighed 13 stone, with a waist measurement of 94.5cm. I am 5 ft 6". Weighed myself this morning, 12st 11lbs, with a waist of 89cm. Still getting use to counting every calorie. I am going to take it a week at a time. Good luck everyone.

I've not weighed myself to day: my weigh day is Monday. But I've been told that I look like I've lost a lot of weight at work. This must mean that the face fat and double chin I was getting have gone, so I am happy!

I lost 2.2lbs in my first week, so I will post on Monday my results for week 2.

The most weight that I have ever been is 12st 2lbs. I started on Monday weighing in at 11st 5lbs, and today I was 11st 4lbs. I am pleased at a pound in 4 days. I am enjoying the plan, and had some lovely homemade soup for lunch. I have made out my meal plans for the week ahead. I think that helps with the shopping, I have to travel 9 miles to the shops. Good luck to everyone with their weight loss.

Seems like there are quite a few of you who weigh yourselves on Monday. Shall we move the weigh-in sessions to Monday in future?

I think Monday may be a good idea as the weekly plan sheets start on a Monday so thats when the majority of people would have started I suspect.

Maybe there could be a Monday club and a Friday club? When you asked whether people would like a weigh in on a Friday I was the only one that said no because I started on a Monday.

We could have a competition between the 2 groups?

No thanks, Friday is great, focuses the mind on the weekend ahead which is my tricky time

Hi, I started a week last Monday and so far I have lost 3lbs, and 2cms off my waist :-) think my stomach as shrunk as I dont feel as hungry anymore.......although I could just eat a bar of Cadburys!

Weigh day for me is Monday, so here's hoping for another 1 or 2lbs loss :-)

Actually, I was at a conference today and next to the teas and coffees were some very nice looking pastries of which I would have most definately partaken only a few weeks ago.

Somehow, I wasn't particularly tempted by them. It was kind of like, "They don't apply to me - I don't do those anymore".

It reminded of how I came to perceive cigarettes after I'd stopped smoking. "Yeah, people smoke cigarettes, but it's a thing other people do, not me".

The lunch was fabulous, but I ate moderately and healthily.

Which reminds me - as it was fish - I really must cajole you all into eating more fish. It's a great source of essential fatty acids such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EHA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

I've just joined this but have been following my own version of cutting down/calorie counting for the last 3 and a half weeks and also doing the c25k (now on week 4). I am 5 10 and my starting weight was 15 stone 6 pounds. obese for the first time in my life and more than 6 stone heavier than I was whenI was 30. I'm 46 now. weighed in yesterday at 14 11 and delighted to be merely overweight now! . my Target is to. get to normal by the end of June. so that is two and a half stones to go. I'll never go back to 9 stone 3 but eventally to be under 12 would be nice. Finding the exercise is really helping, my mood is better too and is uses up time I'd normally be snacking. good luck everyone.

I'm weighing in today at 10 st 12 lb. same as last week! Bit deflated as seem to have got stuck after doing well for a while. Don't seem to e able to find the motivation and had three glasses of wine last night that probably didn't help!

Must try harder....

in reply toNorni

Hi Norni,

You're not going to like this, but you may well be right about the wine!

To put it simply, as it isn't a nutrient, our bodies can't store alcohol and therefore it prioritises getting rid of it. That priority means the body stops doing other things, including burning fat and absorbing nutrients.

And if that wasn't enough, in fact pure alocohol contains 7 kcal per g - not far off the 9 kcal per g for fat. A 175ml of wine contains about 275 kcal which is about the same as a bag of crisps.

Weigh in on Friday, Day 0 so next Friday will be the end of week one.

75.3 KG BMI 31.3 Bodyfat 42.5%

Target - to reduce by 15 KGS

Lost so far Zero

(All this info courtesy of the scales in Boots.)

I really like the Friday weigh in, the weekend is my most difficult time and this helps focus the mind for the weekend ahead.

Planning to follow the 12 week program, update here each week. Always found it very hard to shift weight, hoping this will help

I started two weeks ago, on Saturday 26 January and have lost 4kg (8.8 lbs), from 58,7kg/127.8lbs down to 54.5kg/119lbs. It is too much for my height (153cm /5ft) and I hope that this week I’ll keep steady pace with minimum or without weight loss.

I weigh myself on a Sunday, so am a wee bit later at posting this. Having lost 5 stone since May last year, I am disappointed to find that weight loss really slowing down. I did not lose anything last week, but am trying not to get demotivated. I know that I have to rethink what I am eating and portion sizes, so have started this week with smaller portions and more fruit in my "rations" bag that I bring to work.

This week I weigh 15 stone 9lbs from my starting point on 1st May last year of 20 stone 10.5lbs.

Hi notsobigmama,

One of the simple realities of losing weight, particularly if you have lost a lot a of weight, is that your new slimmer body actually needs less calories each day to maintain it.

So your target of whatever calories daily that you had when you were 20 stone isn't as far short of your dailly requirements now that you're only 15 and a bit stone. So the rate of loss slows down.

At one level I suppose it's really obvious that a body that is only 3/4s of the mass it was last May, will need less daily calories then it did last May.

So the answer is to up the exercise/activity so that you burn off more and/or cut the food intake a bit more, but do keep up the nutritional quality of your diet.

Very well done.

Thank you for the advise. I hadn't thought of it along the lines of being 3/4 of the woman I used to be - great visualisation. Roll on half the woman! I have started with the smaller portions and I actually walked the half hour to the sports centre last night for my Aqua Zumba class, so the exercise is increasing as well.

I have surprised myself by not getting too down about this lack of weight loss and am still really motivated to keep going. The fact that I have a load of clothes in the wardrobe that nearly fit is helping.

Hi

I got weighed this morning on the scales at my local Leisure Centre, this is where I plan to get weighed every week so it is consistent.

I am 5ft 7in

Weigh 15st 1lb (211lb)

BMI 32.2

I would ideally like to lose 5 stone, but I am just going to do the plan and take it from there.

Here's to a good week!

Could somebody please let me know when the weigh in actually is, Monday or Friday, thanks

annie0000 profile image
annie0000

weighed in this morning and lost a pound so down to 14 10 - actually feel it should be more as I have worked quite hard but it's better than putting on and I lost 2 last week - my target was 3 over a fortnight so I guess that is right on target.

Feeling a bit bloated though - think the change of diet is causing a few issues and that things aren't leaving me as quickly as they are going in.......if that makes sense without being too graphic!

Hope everyone else did well.

Onwards and downwards :)

clewis profile image
clewis in reply toannie0000

Are you getting enough water? and lots of fruit that's a big help over time.. Keep going xx

annie0000 profile image
annie0000 in reply toclewis

Thanks clewis - water intake is fine and I am now within the normal body water category according to the scales. I am however not eating as much fruit as I did pre diet as the calorie content is pretty high. I've been eating more veg instead so that should serve the same purpose?. I think the issue is probably that i've been having porridge for breakfast every day rather than the Granola stuff that I used to eat. The porridge is more filling and has less calories but I guess it isn't "rough" enough. I'll try to alternate the cereal and see if that helps and just put up with the hunger :(

clewis profile image

Well I have cut out cakes, biscuits, pastries I eat slimmers bread. I am eating chicken, eggs veg, fruit, fibre, salad. This is from last Monday I have walked . Great expectations!! I have lost a.. 1/4Ib

BUT I feel thinner and I am not looking for room in my trousers.. (I don't think I have one even floor in this house for my scales) but I am not giving up.. but I do hope everyone did well I haven't read blogs yet..

annie0000 profile image
annie0000 in reply toclewis

I'd find one spot on the floor and mark it somehow as it will get demoralising if the scales aren't correct (or at least consistent). If you have done what you say, I am sure you will have lost more than a 1/4 pound as you can obviously feel it. Now that I am 10lbs down, I can definitely feel it in my clothes and see it in my face - also had a few comments so I know it is starting to be noticeable. To be honest, I am just really watching my portions and being aware of the hidden calories - I've been using "myfitnesspal" to log my intake and it is easier to see where the calories are going. That way, I am maybe still having the things I enjoy, but having less of them, or adapting the recipe a bit. I haven't really been that hungry. I am finding after eights are a pretty good treat as there is only 35 calories and 1g of fat in each one. I am usually happy with one or two at the most as they get a bit sickly after that anyway.

Keep at it!

clewis profile image
clewis in reply toannie0000

Thank you, you are spot on. I am having to go to the flag stone in the garden... At least I know it's consistent. lol I am waiting until Monday before I step foot on them again.xxx

Decided to weigh in today instead of Monday as I've had a bad week! However i was very surprised to find I've lost 1lb :-) Also I have now lost 1" of my hips, 1" of my widest part! and 1/2" off each knee, in addition to the 1" off my waist 2 weeks ago - Really happy :-)

Pleased to see that I lost 2.5lbs last week. Cutting back on the portions and slightly increasing the exercise worked! I am getting a bit concerned about how little I will be able to eat the next time my weight sticks - 5 stone 4lbs down and realistically, as I now weigh 15 stone 6.5lbs, I could lose another 5 stone!

I am just keeping my targets small - just now its to get to 15 stone. Hopefully that will be in a few weeks.

I hope everyone else had a successful weigh in.

Hi,

Was 12'11, with a waist of 89cm, on friday was 12'7, with a waist of 86cm. Still adjusting to the increased exercise regime as it is leaving me exhausted. Well done to everyone else who lost this week and for those that didn't, don't loose heart and keep going :)

Another 2lbs off this week :) - That's me down to 14 8 from 15 6 - another 2lbs and I'll have done the first stone!!! Rarely getting hungry yet but think my ability to eat lots is decreasing. Had a M&S Fuller Longer curry the other day - 460 calories but struggled to finish it.

Hope everyone has done well this week too.

Morning,

This is my first weigh-in. Thought I'd record my new weight here as it looks like its a continuing blog (although Mondays lot appear to have a new blog each week). Hopefully I'm not recording on an old blog in the middle of computer space!

- I started my weightloss last Saturday (23/02) at 144lbs and this morning I weigh 138.2lbs.

- this weeks weightloss is 5.8lbs. I would normally think this to be a little high but it's my first week & I ate a lot during half term ( I find this sometimes shows as a large gain one week & , if I'm good, a big loss the next)

-I'm hoping that this weeks loss will encourage me to be good/healthy in the coming week.

- my goals this week are to lose 1.5-2lb and do some resistance exercises.....oh! & try to avoid pudding when out for Sunday lunch!

Happy healthy eating!

Was 12'6, with a waist of 85cm, am now 12'4 and 84.5cm. I do feel the benefits of eating well and I have a lot more energy. Eating out is a fear at the moment. Am gradually upping the exercise, but am only commiting myself to what I can maintain. Happy weightloss folks!

Starting today! I weigh in at 11st 5 lb so this is my week one. Going to be calorie counting to eat no more than 1200 calories a day.

Started at the beginning of January and have lost 10lbs in total. Was 15st 2 but and am now 14st 6 - but in the last 4 weeks I have only lost 1lb. Am doing loads of exercise and can tell it's working as feeling the benefit but it's frustrating not seeing the scales move.
