This is an all inclusive club, to cover all activity and all abilities and the aim is for each of us to highlight our preferred activities to give us all new ideas for exercise. Please see previous post for ideas and inspiration!.
The idea is for you to post your exercise achievements from last week and your proposed goals for this coming week. This will not be a competition, but declared plans are easier to stick to and encouragement and support from fellow members.
Any and all exercise counts, from housework to marathon running, armchair exercises to wheelchair basketball. Your only limitation will be your imagination.
We love to see photos, so please post as many as you wish.
Please take some time to encourage your fellow FiF'ers, as this is all about giving each other support and inspiration.
My original plan was to post regarding Halloween and autumn spirit but I cant.
As many of you know I live in Spain and this week a horrible natural disaster has brought devastation to the area near the Valencia. More than 200 deaths and many more people missing. Many lifes ruined. Not much we can do since roads are still blocked, but pray and keep them in our minds because they will need help during many weeks.
Sorry this is not a happier post but that's what it is in my mind at the moment.
The pictures show the cars blocking one of the streets but also thousands of people walking to help, carrying water and food by hand. Faith in the human beings helping each other.
Tell me hows being your week, if you have enjoyed Halloween and done a lot of exercise to burn the sweets calories!!
Also remember to encouge also our fellows at FIF!
Enjoy the life, take care and have fun!❤️🩹

Hi xx2000. My heart goes out to those in Spain struggling to live and to help each other. Let’s hope the authorities can actually get their act together and give some proper help rather than leaving it to volunteers.
So my excercise today was a very nice, satifying half hour treadmill run, some rowing which was a bit lame so need to up the tension a bit and a bit of weights. Lovely sunny dogwalk and will be gardening this afternoon, a bit of mowing and maybe some digging.
Have a good active day everyone, whatever you’re up to.
Great job today! In a few session you will find rowing satisfying as soon as you can adjust it. Lets hope that soon the situation in Valencia is more prganise and people getthe aid they need. 🤞
Yes, I row every winter when I can’t swim but started a bit ’low’ on the resistance today - I increase distance and tension every week but will jump ahead a bit on Wednesday.
I am so sorry to see the news about the shocking floods in Spain around the Valencia , those poor people 😢💔
I have managed to get a physiotherapy assessment appointment for this Thursday, it is a bit of a trek but I have decided that I can’t wait until a more local one is available. Strangely , this was the appointment I was offered last week so at least it was still a priority appointment .
Last week according to the Active 10 app I have briskly walked for 270 minutes out of a total 419 minutes walked.
I have managed 20 minutes in total on the elliptical trainer.
This week I hope to briskly walk for 150 brisk minutes & do at least 20 minutes on the elliptical trainer ( after speaking to physio).
Today I visited my Mum & part of the route was retracing my walk to & from secondary school .
Climate change might be an issue but I got the impression ( from the news) that neglect to the infrastructure has a lot to do with why it was so devastating. This seems to be a common thing in many ’natural’ disasters of late. People pay there taxes in good faith but are continually let down by those that are in charge. Makes me angry. I’ll pop my soap-box back in the cupboard now, 🙂
In 6 hours it rained almost twice as much whats normal for a whole year, so extreme climate phenomena was there. But the infrastructures that may have help to diminish the disaster were not. I think it is the human nature to take mesures after the tragedy happens, hopefully we will learn for the future in many places. Thanks for caring. ❤️🩹
I hope the appt goes well on Thursday and you get given some exercises to do to help. Despite your joint problems you have done very well with your exercise- congratulations
I have been to the physiotherapist, he thinks it is inflammation of the knee cartilage & I have been given an exercise programme to do for the next 8 to 12 weeks . I must limit my walking / elliptical trainer & have rest days in between walking to allow the damage to heal & the pain get better.
This is going to be hard as even when my femur was fractured I was encouraged to do as much walking (using crutches) as I could.
I wonder if chair exercises would be ok to do since you won’t be putting pressure on the joint which would (I think) be what (s)he is wanting to avoid.
I have an exercise programme to do , that avoids this but I don’t want to do anything else that irritates my tennis elbow whilst my knee is hurting. It’s not too long on the scheme of things . Overall my joints , ligaments & tendons are all in pretty good shape he said .
Great photo and hope the exercises help and looking fwd to you walking the usual distance in the near future, all the best but forgot to say what you achieved this week is fantastic 👏👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰
I agree terrible news and I am glad you weren't directly impacted by the flood, but it must be an upsetting for everyone in Spain. It is amazing that you feel able to host this week challenge. I have had a good week though must admit needed last week's goals to motivate myself on Sunday to complete them. I had planned on doing the exercises before the kitchen repair man came but he arrived at 7:45am on the 2 mornings he worked so had to do the 2 sessions of the combined aerobics and strength exercises at the weekend and boy are my legs and glutes feeling it today My goals last week was for 5 days of 10,000 steps of which 1 day would be 15000 steps and 2x aerobics and 2x strength exercises- I actually managed 6 days of 10,000 steps as well as 1x 15000 steps. My stats were 92079 steps (40.8m) and 544 mins of brisk exercise (114mins exercises and 430 mins brisk walking).
This week I am working 2 shifts then back up North staying at my sister's to celebrate my mam's 90th- I am staying for a week. My sister has a dog Archie so I will be walking with them every day. So, no aerobic or strength exercises this week, but I expect to manage 6 days of 10,000 steps of which 2 days will be 15000 steps🤞
Wow , that’s fantastic RG07 🥳. I hope the two shifts go well & have a safe trip up to your Mam’s & sisters l hope your Mam has a fantastic 90th birthday celebration xx
We are taking her to see Allo! Allo! the musical (we assume it's a musical it's by the Berwick operatic Society) Mam doesn't know about this but we are having a family meal on Sunday- her Birthday is on Wednesday, but my brother has children in 6th form and their half term was last week- very inconvenient!
Great job!! Sure your muscles are burning! A week "rest" will be good, if you considere 15000 steps walks with Alfie resting. 😁Things are improving slowly in Valencia. Army is helping to get rid off mud and wrecked cars. But many months of work will be needed.
Hi smartoak!! Great job this week with so many different things!! And you plan for this week is also fantastic. I know nothing about climbing so I dont know if it is cheating... but unless you sre spleeping everything counts 🤣
This is shocking xx2000. I am so sorry that this is happening. The mainstream media in the UK is hardly covering the story, well on radio and social media; I don’t have a TV so can’t comment on that. I have seen reports on Al Jazeria though. My hairdresser is from the area most affected and has been fundraising to take supplies in person ( well it’s her husband who is going, but you get the point)
What with the news both local, and international and my severe anxiety diagnosis, I haven’t been exercising much last week. However my Fitbit tells me I did more last week than I did the week before. But really feeling the pressure of personal and world event pressures.
Sending hugs to everyone who is finding things difficult at the moment. 🙂
Thanks for caring! Sometimes we cant see so many people suffering so it is better to avoid media and help on your own way. Good that you managed more exercise than last week. Thats an step forward!!.
Take care and enjoy the week. Exercise when ever you can!! 👍
I find mainstream media misses out a lot of important international news. We have LBC, which can be a bit shouty, but sometimes can be informative on World Affairs. And AlJazeria (in English). But it is very hard to follow world events isn't it?
Hi Iwilldothisthisyear, I'm glad to see you've got in with the physio and have an exercise plan. I know you will find it hard to rest but you must do it the best you can. Best of luck xx
I do. Yes I have news. I'm going to explain it in the FIF next week as i'm hosting but basically I have to live with the nerve pain in my left leg and continue with the meds to help. The good news is that I have a date for the knee replacement op on the right leg - 10th December so not long to wait. I'm just hoping nothing happens to have it cancelled. The last 2 replacements were cancelled and remade several times and put the op off for a further 4 - 6 months. I'd like this one to go smoothly xx
I hope this time is the right one. December is really close so cross finger that everything goes as planed. (Sorry for the late reply I was on a plane)
Aaw you'll just have to do as you're told for now.. But just think, by the Season, you may be healed enough to get your dancing shoes on, and party! 🎄🎆💃
I was very sad to hear that olympian Sir Chris Hoy, UK national hero and a really nice bloke by all accounts, has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. It really goes to show how random cancer, and indeed, life, can be. So try to live your best life. I wish him well with his treatment.
Friday’s excercise a 30 min treadmill run, dog walk and lots of stairs this afternoon on a castle visit.
Have a great weekend everyone whatever you’re up to, I think its meant to rain so I will probably be deep cleaning our kitchen, lounge diner as its been rather neglected in favor of gardening .
Awful about the flooding in Spain, your photos show the devastation, my heart goes out to the people affected and to those families who have lost loved ones.
My brisk walking fell by the wayside.
Steps not so bad and kept up with my Tibetan, I checked my blood pressure with my brother kit and it was 150 over 82.
I am back home and today is a better day, always takes me a while to destress after staying at mums. She suffers with her osteoarthritis and is 93.
For this week hoping to go to the allotment and to go for a brisk walk everyday.
Hi wine! Nice exercise this week and good plans for the coming week! I hope you can relax and your blood presure goes down after a few days. Enjoy your tibetan exercises!
It is been a pleasure to host this week. Although it has been a difficult one. The news from the flooding in Valencia are 214 deaths 59 still missing. Volunteers contonue going to Valencia to help although normal life will take months to come. Thanks to all of you for your caring and supportive words.Enjoy life. Have fun and take care next week.
Its been such a terrible event in Valencia xx2000. We haven't heard much about it this week, our news has all been about the USA elections!
Its so sad so many lives have been lost and i do hope they can find all those who are missing, even if its just for peace of mind for their loved ones.
