Welcome to another week to the Fit is Fun Club!!This thread will be open from Monday 26th to Sunday 3rd March - The idea is for you to post your exercise achievements from last week and your proposed goals for this coming week. This will not be a competition, but declared plans are easier to stick to and encouragement and support from fellow members are good motivators.
We love to see photos, so please share the ones that are related to your exercise - or not 😉-
Spring it`s almost here!! so it has been a difficult week for people with allergies (as me). I have been using an app to workout at home, it is nice because it has a great variety of exercises- I have enrolled a program of pilates and another one of low impact exercise. Plus, last week I went to 2 dance classes: one bachata and one salsa. Lots of movement and fun, I really recommend dancing for exercise!
I have realised that the most difficult thing to achieve is consistency (it applies both to exercise and healthy eating) so it is really important to find something that you enjoy doing.
My plans for next week are very much the same, I have an appointment with the doctor to see if I can better control my allergy and can exercise also outside but meanwhile I will stick to my home exercises and my dance classes.
What about you? Don’t forget that this is an all inclusive club, so all types of activity and all abilities are welcomed and the aim is for each of us to highlight our preferred activities to give us all new ideas for exercise.
Please take some time to encourage your fellow FiF'ers, as this is all about giving each other support and inspiration!

Good morning oh host xx2000 .I hope you and all others are well this week and keeping fit. Had a really busy week. Gardening in between the showers, soooo wet underfoot but managed to plant lots of plants . Mostly grown from seed or cuttings last year.
The monsters in the picture F/B,Kiki,Jack and Sally (the boss)have had wet walkies as well, except for two days of frosty mornings which they loved. Their walks and other walking have totalled 24.5hours this week. Roll on warmer weather and l can up the total hopefully
Managed two hours on the spin bike. On and off bikes will be ready this week so after a four year break l will be back riding, yipeeeeeeee.
Have a great week one and all,not long until the clocks go forward, longer daylight, cannot wait.😀😀😀😀😀😀
Hi ascelus!! Great news that you are going back to your bike. Enjoy and take care! Your activities this week sound very productive and funny .... Although wet 😀. Hopefully spring is coming soon and the weather Will improve! Enjoy the week!
Thanks for your comments. I do like walking them and they are reasonably well behaved, only if l give them sweeties (cocktail sausages cut in half). Have a good week
They look so cute The one at the front looks like it's laughing! I assume you are looking forward to go cycling- have you been unwell that its been a 4 yr gap or have you needed tp replace your bike? It has certainly been wet so far this year not just last week
Hi RGO7 ,they do have their cute moments. Broke two vertebrae in my neck which healed fairly quick, took me year to get back on a bike but that didn't last long. Main problem still, is my shoulder which took most of the impact. It is still very painfull and has limited movement but okay to hold onto the handlebars. Managed three miles the other day on my off road bike but my hand was so cold had to stop. Even gloves never helped. See how l get on over the weekend when l get the road bike back
It has been so wet here lately it has put a dampener on my walking.
I have walked 71540 steps which is approximately 30 miles . I have only managed to walk up 101 flights of stays as I was so tired due to lake sleep due to my tinnitus.
According to the Active 10 app I have briskly walked for 209 minutes out of a total 354 minutes walked .
I did manage 5 minutes on the elliptical trainer .
Nice pictures despiste the weather!! Sorry that your tinnitus disturb your sleep. I have Heard that divers use White noise to help but i don't know if thats feasible in your case. Not bad your total amount of miles even with the wet weather. Congrats.
Love the pictures. Impressive steps and even more impressive 'Brisk Walking'. l suffer with tinnitus but not enough to disturb sleep.Feel for you. Hope sleep improves during week🥱🥱🥱🛏️💤🛏️💤🌝🌝🌝🌝🌝🌝
Another excellent week... Well done not letting tinnitus stop you moving... Those brisk minutes are fantastic... Everything brilliant... I love your photos what a beautiful sky... Have another gorgeous week 😊
Only managed to walk up 101 flight of stairs😁 Lovely photos as usual and its good to see you are back on the gym equipment- is it any warmer in the garage?
Thanks for the reminder about dancing- I have been meaning to take it up again.I shall look around for some classes .You are an inspiration with all you are doing.
Well - I am new to this forum as I tend to just do the weigh in but as my routine of exercise has gone since christmas I thought a bit of support on this forum my get me back on track again.
I have picked up my swimming again and the Tuesday shallow pool for ladies is my go to spot.
Trying to build back a bit of strength again.
I have not played tennis since the summer and our courts are closed while it all gets re-surfaced so that is not happening yet- and frankly the energy for it is not there.
My target is to build up a workable routine of regular exercise so if I can add a bit of pilates and yoga and strength exercises from some on line videos this week I shall feel like I am making some progress in establishing healthy routines.
I too have posted here for the first time, well in the last four years. It takes time to get back into exercise,we get used to not doing it and then the fatigue sets in from just taking it easy. Have had two sessions of spin bike since accident four years ago. Now bikes are nearly ready l will ride again.
The saying goes like this,apparently......... We don't grow old and stop exercising ...we grow old because we stop exercising.
See you here next Monday and we can both report on how much exercise we hav done during the week🚴♂️🏃♀️🏊♂️🏊♂️🚴♀️🚴♀️👍👍👍😀😀😀😀😀
Welcome tok this side of the forum. You have a great plan to follow. Surely you can built your exercises program little bye little. Joining this forum Will help you with new ideas and suggestions. See you Next week!!
Hello welcome to the forum and I wish you well with getting back on track exercise wise. I find that posting here what your goals are exercise wise for the week ahead. I find it motivates me to do the planned exercise when I am not feeling particularly motivated Though sometimes life gets in the way which makes it difficult to fit in what I have planned for the day.
I love your week xx2000 and thanks fir looking after us this week
I did yogalates and stretch and tone last week..
And started a strength and flex challenge by James Bulletproof and forgot which day I was on... Really should have wrote it down... No worries will do day 7 tomorrow and then day 4 and 5 later and then that's done this week...
Did 27.61 miles last week.. 63849 steps... No cramps..
I got a Salisbury postcard so chuffed will need to put another sticker on my map 😁a total 277.33miles this year...
Bought popcorn maker as found kernels in shop... I have had popcorn the whole kitchen smells of popcorn... Really have had a gorgeous day
Fantastic mileage... Its brilliant to do the walking as a challenge.. I love the postcards and the satellite imagery when I remember to go onto itHope it's sunny where you are today
Only from certain places . The New Forest is an area of heath land & forest where there are ponies that roam free , deer & other wildlife. I went there a free times with my family as a kid in a tent & loved being woken up by a pony 🤣
Sounds like you have had a very good week- I have a popcorn maker (Holland & Barratt- sells popcorn just in case you have problems getting some). I toss the popcorn in pepper but don't add melted butter or salt. I'm doing the Strength exercises on YouTube but the sessions are a but mixed up- the link initially was for 45mins and today's session was just 10 mins beginners- not worked out how to find the beginning of the series, so totally understand how you ended up doing Day 7 before you should have
i got mine from argos and the pop corn pops no problem just kernels and popcorn end on the floor...funny but not efficient ...no i cant recommend but you can get something and pop it in the microwave instead but if you put too long starts to burn...
Hi all, gosh you all sound very energetic. I skipped gymming on Monday, just didn’t feel like it, so here to fess up. I will do it today. I have been non-stop busy for a few days so hope that will have made up for it. Nice to see dear old stonehenge, I used to live quite near and have walked all around that area in those days, Salisbury too. I think the Druids only turn up on certain days, hanging out in Glastobury the rest of the time :D.Happy fitness everyone x
Have a great workout at the gym...😊I have never been to Stonehenge or Salisbury.. Need to look at the satellite imagery that's why I love this challenge app so much... Have a gorgeous week
Yes did a good sesh today. Does anyone else use virtual videos for running on the treadmill -I was running in Guada Lahara this morning, The sky was gloriously blue and there are no cars in the city centre early in the morning so the runners get to run up the middle of the highway. I find it better than staring at the timer ticking away my minutes.x
Yes, I just google virtual running videos or cycling and they come up, sometimes on youtube. Some are better than others but its trial and error. I’ll try post a link of one as an example.youtu.be/4w2vDEhJjVY?si=gK2...
I think this might be tick tock but they just run on my tablet using internet.
ADMIN let me know if its not okay to post this -I thought it was just going to be the link
Hi hope you managed to get to the gym. I used to go to several gyms over the years but found that after the initial enthusiasm I kept going less and less- I especially found it challenging to get to the gym in the winter with the dark evenings. It also didn't help that I worked shifts so didn't have a set day for the gym and after finishing work I was too tired to go to the gym and since I started at 7am so was up at 5:15am I was definitely not going before work Also by the time I got re-motivated to go (usually 6 months with the lighter nights) I found the gym closed Since this happened to all 3 gyms I went to I decided I wasn't meant to go to a gym and it would be unfair to the staff and users if I went to a gym which will undoubtedly go bust within 2 years🤪
According to a question on Richard Osmans house of games recently, something like 83 percent of gym memberships go unused after the first few weeks. Thats a lot. I used to go after work and it used to clear my groggy head but I don’t go out to work now. I guess its something you love or loathe -I like the reliability and saftey -used to road run and took it up again during first wave of covid but I am too fearful of getting knocked down by a crazy motorist. Hope you don’t join my gym, and jinx it x
I have been doing my balance exercises using my standing frame. On Monday 26th my new step arrived so I have taken a photo of my upgraded home gym for you all to share. I can currently only walk around indoors as I have a bunch of health issues that affect my balance and mobility, but I do what I can. I ask Alexa to play my favourite music and move to that.
I also discovered a guy on YouTube who demonstrates exercises using a standing frame
My standing frame with step placed underneath the frame
I was able to get up and dance a few months ago but as my balance issues made that less and less a thing I could do, I had to find another way to get moving and came up with this.
Afternoon xx2000 and thank you for hosting- I love the photo though it is making me a bit jealous since its been very wet here I have had a good week last week- I did 2 sessions of Couch to Fitness post natal programme (I'm not or ever been pregnant but I thought I'd work my way through the various programmes) and 1 strength session on YouTube. My step goals was to achieve 6 days of 10,000 steps but only managed 5, however they were all over 15,000 steps (my goal was 3 days of 15,000 steps). I managed 86909 steps (42.7m) and 374 mins of brisk walking and 92 mins of exercise sessions.
This week I am only doing 1 shift because I am going to my mother's for a week tomorrow. I am also training for a charity half marathon- Mighty Hikes for MacMillan in September. I'll have to see if I can plan a 3m route this week and 4m routes for next week, at my mother's🤞. So I plan to manage 6 days of 10,000 steps at least and I hope 3 of those days I will achieve 15,000 steps. I have completed 2 sessions of Couch to Fitness post-natal programme (Low Impact and Pilates) and a 10 mins Stretch programme on YouTube (I had panned on doing 30 mins but couldn't find it!)
Hi!! You are fantastic with your steps and brisk minutes, despiste the rain. I wish It'd rain a little more here, or we will have problemas Next summer. How's your mother doing? I Hope shes fine. The post natal seems a good idea 😂 i have always think that there should be different activities for the different types of people ... Including for the little-clumpsy like me 😊
