Hope you have all had a good week. If you have managed any form of exercise-with all the wet and wild storms-then very well done.
I have managed to do lots of walking with Pea, a Silver Swans ballet session and some cycling. I have also made more of an effort to do some brain activies. Crosswords, Sudoku and a start a jigsaw. These for me are just as important as the physical exercise as now I have retired I don’t have the day to day work related stimulation. I am looking forward to hearing and being impressed with all your adventures.
This is an all inclusive club, to cover all activity and all abilities and the aim is for each of us to highlight our preferred activities to give us all new ideas for exercise.
Please see healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... for previous ideas.
The idea is for you to post your exercise achievements from last week and your proposed goals for this coming week. This will not be a competition, but declared plans are easier to stick to and encouragement and support from fellow members are good motivators.
By setting ourselves short, mid range and possibly long term goals we achieve a little at a time and with the forum family encouraging us each step along the way we may surprise ourselves by what we achieve. Any and all exercise counts, from housework to marathon running, armchair exercises to wheelchair basketball. Your only limitation will be your imagination.
We love to see photos, so please post as many as you wish of when you're out and about, in the gym, at your fitness class, or boogying down in front of your TV.
Please take some time to encourage your fellow FiF'ers, as this is all about giving each other support and inspiration.

Good morning & thanks for hosting us this week . Well done on being active despite the wet & windy weather we have been having.
For som reason they have decided to stop showing the steps & distance achieved on my weekly summary on my watch so I can’t record my steps/distance or stair flights climbed for last week .
According to the Active 10 app I briskly walked for 225 minutes walked out of a total 365 minutes walked
Apparently I burned 2986 k calls & did 5 hours 41 minutes of exercise.
Those are great numbers, all the minutes walked and over 5 hours exercise. Well done. 👏 Wonder why your watch has stopped with the info? Living in a bungalow I am always intrigued by the amount of stairs you climb! ☺️
There was an update, I have installed a new app to count steps & distance so will be able to report them for next week. The stairs will be a mystery from now on lol
That's a beautiful blue sky for Nov Iwilldothisthisyear. It looks like you've got your get up and go back, that's good. It's a pity your watch isn't storing all that activity any more, I wonder why. Still well done for burning all those Kcals and 5 hours isn't to be sniffed at either. If you happen to have a teenager in your life, they could probably sort the watch out.
Hi Pollyw and thanks for having us. Snap to doing sudoku, definitely good for our brains. I usually do with my phone and try to beat my previous time. Last night I tried doing one with paper and a pencil but it took me for ever and there's a mistake somewhere, I was cuddling a cat and watching telly at the time
I've been awol for the last month my shoulders are killing me! I'm not sure if it was the benchdips or lugging the shopping in. I haven't been doing my S&F as there's quite a lot of arm movement involved and bench dips are definitely off the table. I've been walking further and a little faster with Wiggles🐾🐾, she's a little tired and would rather stay in the warm on the sofa. Never mind, if I can do it so can she, we do a couple of Kms in the morning then just a quicky in the late afternoon.
After chatting on the S&F forum I've discovered stepping. I've never done it before in my life! It's very good for cardio, balance and co-ordination, I haven't got my step yet so I'm just doing the moves on the floor,it's not as easy as it looks. My step is on it's way, I splashed out on a Black Friday deal, hopefully next week I'll be able to use it at least 3 times.
I hope everyone enjoys doing their chosen sport, life's too short for just plodding about
My new step. I'll be using it at its lowest 10ms :)
Thanks Iwilldothisthisyear, I'm not as coordinated as I thought, but stepping is fun. I'm doing the beginners class and I'm playing the video at ¾ speed.
I didn’t know you could do that- slow it down or do you actually mean a video in a video player rather than something off You Tube or something similar?
I'm using YouTube stuff on my device at the top of the screen there's the settings "cog" click on that and choose speed. Incredibly clever as the sound comes out slower not distorted . The wonders of modern technology 👀
I have saved the stepper posts and have meant to start learning the moves but keep forgetting... Love that you have bought a stepper... You are now committed... Me I bought a hula hoop and just did it three times... So went in the garage to see if I had any wood I could step on... Then if I last a month I could buy as that means I love it... I am so happy for you that you are stepping
I hope your shoulders are getting better day bu day... I have stopped doing s&f too
Thanks Wine ,I have to be quite strict with myself. I did S&F 3 times a week without fail until level 5. Then I had to stop because of my fall in June and I never really enjoyed it in the same way. At the moment I'm doing the step 3 times a week, it's cream crackering but I enjoy it. I'm still on the basics and I'm not in a hurry
Wine this is the link with the tutorials on, I click on the cog for settings at the top of the video, then I slow it down to 0.75. It makes a difference, promise. Before I bought the step I practiced the moves on the door mat.
I like paper and pencil, as long as there is a rubber on the end of the pencil ☺️. So annoying when you realise a mistake but don't know where.
Sorry to hear about your shoulders, but seems like you’re making up for no lunges with more walking 👍. I did try using a step but ended up getting cocky, did too many in one session and hurt my Achilles. So I have stayed clear of them ever since. I’m sure you won’t be cocky and will use it sensibly 🫣. Have a good week.
I'm going sooo slowly with the steps Pollyw. At the moment I'm using the door mat just so I know if I'm up or down. I'm doing a very 1st video and I've even slowed it down. I'm terrified of hurting myself
I'll be doing it on the lowest height and with the video running at ¾ speed.
what a lovely photo! A lovely change from the usual rain cloud and mist which has been the norm lately😟
Well I had a good week of walking with the help of Archie- had to go out whatever the weather and it’s been pretty wet for most of the week. My goal was 7 days of 15000+ steps (maybe I should have set 20,000+!) and achieved that and more! My weekly totals were 178680 steps (104.5km) and 902 brisk mins of walking.
I have Archie for another week- my sister doesn’t get back until next Tuesday morning so I expect to manage at least 20,000 steps a day until then. I did do a test to see how Archie reacted when I sat on the floor- to see if doing Couch to Fitness exercise was feasible. Well he took it to mean it was ok to lick then nibble my ears and also sit on my lap so I’ve decided this is not going to happen!
No don’t think any sitting exercises are going to work with Archie. He is only trying to be helpful 🐶.
Fantastic walking stats, nearly two hundred thousand steps and almost a thousand brisk minutes walking 👏. You never cease to amaze with your stats. Well done.
I plan to in a couple of years time- I’m currently doing occasional shifts so whilst I’m doing that I feel it’s unfair on any dog. But once I need to renew my professional registration I won’t renew.
Good idea. It hard to leave them alone for too long. I try not to leave Pea as best I can. Now I am not working she loves it. More walks and more adventures, if I visit anyone I usually take her with me. As long as they are dog lovers of course.
Well it will be nearly 2 months since I’ve taken Alfie out with one thing and another so I think he is ready for a visit but that won’t be for another fortnight
I know they certainly know when they’re being bribed when you leave them in the car and give them a treat first which they ignore- though surprisingly when you return the treat has miraculously disappeared 😜
Ok ww subscription now finishedI had a go at strength exercise on demand on sw app and day after my glutes were tight and oops thought I am going to have cramps and yes got them so rested up 3 days and building my steps slowly.. No exercise.. I lie I got the Xmas tree up last week this week moved my boxes of books downstairs and covered it with a table cloth making it into a side board
This week intended to start stepping or learning the moves and kept on forgetting so next week stepping is on my timetable have to wait for hubs to stop watching telly and I will try to cast it...
Just wanting to do 10k steps... I just want to make time for reading too
It was really good to read what you guys have been doing
Pollyw I love your exercises what a great week you have had
