I am new!

Hello! I’m a 57 year old woman who wants to lose weight and be healthy. I had lost 40 pounds over the past three years and hoped to lose another 15-20. Recently I put 7 back on and feel myself slipping back into old, bad habits. I have severe arthritis and have had several joint replacements. At times I will eat the wrong things ( ex- junk food ) to help cope with my pain. I’m looking for support and inspiration to help me get back on track and stay on track.

Hi Corgi145.I hope you find some support here. There is lots going on and lots of orgsnised threads, like fit is fun or the daily diary. There is also a monthly challenge. This month it is on mindsets.

The threads get very long and, personally I loose track of them, (I'm just not well enough to follow all the ins and outs), but they do offer a lot of peer support.

starting your own thread ( as you have done here) is also good and a great way to introduce yourself and make friends.

most people are friendly and supportive and the ones that aren't, you just have to ignore.

Hello, Corgi145, and welcome to the forum :)

It sounds like you're acting promptly to stop yourself undoing the good work of the past. It must be hard to deal with the pain, yet you know in your heart that eating rubbish doesn't help, and only gives you something else to feel unhappy about.

You'll find plenty on the forum to encourage you back to healthier ways. Start by scrolling through all these posts (EDIT: see my reply below with the correct link) and joining in as much as you can. Members will be happy to chat about their plans, successes and struggles.

You might like to take a look at this Challenge, all about mindset healthunlocked.com/weight-l...

The more you join in, the more you'll get out of it so I look forward to seeing you out and about around the forum :)

Hi Corgi! Very well done with your weight loss. It's fantastic and it's really good you are looking for motivation in carrying on.

I have only recently found this forum and I am finding it really helpful. So you definitely aren't alone being new here :)

I am so sorry to hear you've been having a time of it with your arthritis.

Look forward to seeing how you get on, hope you have a really good week.

Hello Corgi145, I’m a similar age to you and also have arthritis in my knees and I understand how easy it is to turn to food for comfort and distraction. You’ve done so well with your weight loss and been quick to stop the slide back to old ways by coming here for help. People are lovely on here and I see you’ve had some helpful replies. I’m trying to lose weight and be healthier too. I’ve been really good for 3 months and have lost 20lb but I fell off the wagon at the weekend- all manner of unhealthy foods!! I returned to this platform last week after a few years for a motivational and supportive network of people. Thank you for posting and we can get back on track x

Hello Maisie0,

Thanks for sharing your experience with everyone here on the Weight Loss Support Forum, and well done for your 20lb loss, it's inspiring for others to see that it really can be done (we'll skirt around the weekend, that can happen to any of us :) )

It looks like you're familiar with HealthUnlocked, but just in case you've missed anything on the Weight Loss support forum, here's a link to all the groups we have on offer at the moment:

I know your peer support would be welcomed on any of the groups, but our short term Challenge to Change Your Mindset might be of interest.

Give us a shout if you have any questions and good luck on your journey :)

Thank you Gridid, it’s been about 3 years since I was last on here so I very much appreciate the links and support. I’ve just been to weekly weigh in at my local slimming world and despite the weekend wobble’ I’ve lost another 1lb making it a 1st7lb loss in 3 months so I’m back on track and with the help here feel very motivated for the coming week. X
