Hello I have had liver disease with cirrhosis for many years. I've had ups and downs having good and bad days. Additionally I have HE , portal hypertension and borderline diabetes. I wear two hearing aids due to my deafness. In the last few years I have increased my weight to 21 stones and 4 pounds from 13sts. I put this down to my poor diet and depression.
I am told that I have to lose 6 stones by my consultant. I hope to do this with support advice and help from Weight Loss Support. I hope you can help me please.

IThe good news is that your weight is just a symptom of your bad diet and that most if not all your health problems can be improved by changing your diet. Liver disease is mosty caused by diet, either traditionally caused by alchohol but more recently also caused by high sugar consumption. High sugar and other refined carbohydrates also cause diabetes, depression and weight gainand probably damaged your hearing. The hypertension comes along with borderline diabetes.
My advice would be to stay away from alcohol. refined sugar and fruit (apart from a small ammouunt of seasonal berries) and stay away from refined carbohydrates like bread, cakes and biscuits.
Thanks Eryl I have not drank any alcohol for 8 years, I am guilty of eating of all the rest you mention in the last paragraph. So I will try and stop being tempted by them . Many thanks for your help and support.
