Weight loss

Hi, I'm Caroline and I need to lose 2-3 stones, as I've put weight on since stopping smoking five years ago. I am 55. I started with my partner three weeks ago and were losing 1-2 lbs per week. It's hard as I crave sweet things in the evening. I've put the fruit bowl by the t.v and got a fridge full of diet stuff.

Good luck to you all with the battle😊😊

Caroline

Hi, Just a though try skinny popcorn. The small bags are @ 75 cal a packet and they are a real treat. For me they are a treat and so low calorie. All sorts of flavours too...

Hi,

Thanks for that! I think I've bought skinny popcorn once before from by the till in Primark!! I shall add it onto my shopping list for tomorrow!

I keep Quavers in as they aren't bad but don't really hit the spot.

Take care,

Cazl. 😘

its so hard isn't it but if you and your partner are both doing this then that will be a great help. I'm now just not buying the things that I cant help myself from pigging out on. Luckily for me its things that no one else in the family eat - British brie being one of them - and I'm avoiding alcohol this weekend as well. Fingers crossed fir all if us. Onwards and downwards 😊

Hello Cazl and welcome to the forum. Stopping smoking is so good for you but I, like you, also put on a lot of weight which is very frustrating. A loss of 1-2 lbs a weeks is very good. Cravings are really difficult. Are you following the NHS 12 week plan. It explains there how it takes 12 weeks to break habits. I certainly found that my cravings drastically reduced after the first 12 weeks. Obviously I still crave a bit of chocolate now and then but it's not the fridge raiding kind of craving!

Hi Cazl

Just a quick thought, you say you eat fruit in the evenings, have you tried honeydew melon? I find it sweet and it fills you up as contains a lot of water, saved me many times from eating other less healthy things, you can have a couple of large slices for very little calories. Best wishes.

Hi Caroline. Ive only been doing this since Monday! Im also craving sweet things in the evenings - I used to have naughty 'bedtime snacks' and thats definitely a bad habit thats been responsible for a lot of my weight gain, and one I need to break. Good luck xx

Everyone on tv is eating and drinking... I've had some helpful replies re sugar free jelly with added fruit, small kit Kats and only eating at the table.

Good luck,

Caz

I make sugar free jelly with fruit in it and have that when I want something sweet, banana and skyr yoghurt also hits the spot. If I really want chocolate I have a 2 finger kit kat with a cup of coffee. Good luck!

Evening munchies are a very common problem πŸ˜• I have had to go cold turkey, don't eat anything after 7 pm and don't eat in the living room in front if the tv, only ever eat at the kitchen table. These two tricks have worked and it's now much easier, I just don't think about food once I've sat down in the evening.

It's tough, and took quite a few weeks, but it's possible 😊 Even hubby and daughter eat less in the evenings as I think we were all leading each other astray!! lol 😊

Thanks Anna. That seems a very sensible rule as everyone on the TV seems to be enjoying a glass of wine or eating! 😑

I admire your will power!

I try to stick to fizzy water in the evenings 😊 Used to be Diet Coke and THAT was a really tough habit to break 😊

I use small plates for my dinner. Glad to see someone gave you all the information on the groups and the 12 week program. Stay in touch on the forum that is so healthy and motivating. Popcorn, stuffed celery sticks, hummus dip with veggie's, nuts-check the calorie count per serving. Fruit is high in glucose thus high in calories. If that mean sweet craving hits you and hubby could split a banana dip in the darkest high quality chocolate melded, will curb your carving.
