I was so sick yesterday afternoon and eveningšŸ˜”

I blended carrotts, neroli kale and tomato. As well as a bit of tumeric fresh root, maca powder and spirula.

I am not sure if there may have been a bit of bacteria on it. It was horrible being sick and the tummy ache / pain. I didn't do any significant walking.

Has this happened to anyone else wheb fresh juicing?

Do you rexommend the green veg powders instead and if so what do you think of them?

It's my birthday today and husband wanted to get a small cake from cake box but after last night, I am a bit appehensive just in case I get grippy pains. Do you think I should stick to plain drinks until this evening? I may try a banana or some ritz biscuits in late afternoon. I know my husband wants to cook something too for my birthday but he knows I have been unwell too.

He (dear husband) recommended ispaghula husk, live yoghurt and mashed banana but take only small amounts. If anyone has any other tips after an upset tummy let me know.

Happy birthday! And Iā€™m very sorry about you being unwell. I do t really have an advise on this situation. After upset stomach I usually just drink herbal teas and nibble on dried bread when hungry. Later on just thinking about food gets a very clear reaction in my body, answering the question whether I would like to put it in my mouth or not, and I just follow that :)

I am a super juicer and a nutritionist, so I suppose I'm in a good position to answer. Be careful with Tumeric although very good, too much can make you feel really sickly, I found out the hard way about that after putting too much in my juices. The other thing is the spirulina, again you have to be careful where you get it from (a lot are contaminated with mercury etc depending how and where its farmed, (I get mine from Organic Burst) and also how its stored (maybe it had gone off?) so maybe either one of those thing could have caused your reaction????? Some of the green powders are really good but you have to know what you are buying and most I would say are not good ( I do like the Maca though), fresh is best and add the powders for an extra burst if you feel you need it.

With Juices you need to alternate things, don't do the same juice every day. Green things have a lot of oxalates in them so to have the same thing all the time is a BIG mistake and diversity is so important.

I do a red day, (e.g. carrots, beetroot, red cabbage , red kale, pink grapefruit, various frozen berries to blend through, a bit of kefir which I've made myself, and some kind of seed like chia , hemp etc. And then a green day, Green cabbage, apple, cucumber, celery, Kale, courgette, lime , ginger etc and then blend in avocado or kiwi) . For taste you need zest like lime , lemon or if you can have grapefruit that makes all the difference to the taste, ginger is amazing.

I personally love juicing but it has to be mostly vegetables with a bit of fruit not the other way around. Watch 'Super juice me' free online video YouTube, very interesting.

Hope you feel better soon. x

Thank you everyone. I was much better yesterday but I threw up 10 times the day before. I am doing this because I wanted to make my body stronger following my miscarriage. I 'm a bit put off now. I use the Naturaya brand for the maca and spirula but as you say it maybe too much or not the right brand. I watched that documentary about fat, sick and nearly dead but not heard about the video you mention , I will check it out. That's a good idea about red days and green....I like that. I am a bit put off for now to be honest but still managed to have a nice birthday. I will start over again soon.
