Casserole Off - Beef casserole

ScoutyPat1 stone

Commonly called "winter warmer" in my house.

350g stewing steak

1 swede

4 carrots

1 leek

1 red onion

1 red bell pepper

Punnet chestnut mushrooms

Large slug of Worcestershire sauce

Mixed herbs, garlic, salt, pepper to taste

2tbsp onion gravy granules

Water to cover

Prep veg by peeling and chopping into small chunks.

Place in slow cooker and cook on high for 6-8 hours

Now I eat as it is. The boys have added chunky bread to soak up all liquid.

The boys have already added to the new family cook book entry for this (a large notebook labelled "mum's healthy option cook book") to make a herby scone mix and add these in ice cream scoop blobs to the top! Not sure what to do with them, but it does sound like a tasty addition.

I used to love herby scones on top of a stew, had forgotten all about them. We used to call the dish Beef Cobbler I seem to recall.

I love the fact that your boys are making a healthy options cook book with you, what a great idea 😊

So much reminiscing, I forgot to say how warm and welcoming your casserole looks. I must get my slow cooker out again soon 😊

Beef cobbler, that was it.. do now this has become a dish for me and carbs the boys can have.
