Bathroom Scales advice needed and a hello!

Hi all, I've been a member of this but for years but don't think I've ever posted in the weight loss section. I've recently returned to running after a couple of years of stagnation and re graduated from c25k on Sunday. I promised myself that once I did that I would then start to get serious about getting some timber off! My first step is to come here and say hello and ask does anyone have any idea of a bathroom scale that is accurate/reliable and will preferably work with my Garmin? I know Garmin do there own scale which is expensive, that wouldn't completely put me off however some of the Amazon reviews were shocking.

I thought I'd ask on here before leaping into a big investment.

My weight has steadily gained over the years, mostly around my middle which I know is going to be hard to shift but that is the plan! 1st step get some scales so I actually know what I weigh 😂 last time I got weighed was at the doctor's about a year ago and know they said I was overweight but can't remember the figures. I'm 5'9" and a fairly average build, at a guess I'd say I'm 13 to 13½ st in weight so not massively over but could stand to lose a stone or two.

Any advice on scales and general use of this weight loss section of the site will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jericho2332, and thank you for your post,

First of all, well done on your re-graduation of the C25k 👍🏼

Personally I can't provide any advice on what is a good or bad scale to buy. I get even more flummoxed when I read on line reviews too! My own scales are from somewhere like Aldi, and give a pretty good reading compared with the doctors. My philosophy is that as long as the numbers are going down, then I'm going okay, however, I suppose you could check the accuracy by weighing yourself somewhere like Boots, and then comparing your own scales, but of course that requires you to buy some first. Hopefully other members might be more helpful than me!

If you've been around the site for a while you will probably have seen some of the groups we have on here, I'll attach a link to all our current ones at the end of this reply, but in a nutshell, we do find that regular participation does help in our journeys, for yourself, the Weigh In (speaks for itself) would be the obvious place to start, but we also have the Daily diary where we share different plans and where you can pick up ideas for what works well for different members. As well as that we have a number of other groups that might be of interest.

Best of luck finding the right scales, and tackling the timber :)
