Hello and welcome, 3Farm 😊
Have a look at this straightforward plan: if you use that as the basis of your shopping and cooking, you won't go far wrong. phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...
You'll find all the information you need about the forum in our Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... including a Welcome message. A good place to start is by joining a weekly weigh in on the day of your choice - why not join the Monday Mass Movers in the morning? - and using the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans.
This gives you a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and, along with Pinned Posts, will show you how things work. I hope you'll become an active member and we will see you joining in around the forum 😊
PS the app doesn’t give access to all parts of the forum so we advise everyone to get rid of the app and log on to the full website using the browser on their phone
Good luck
Hello
I can see you have been active on the Couch to 5k forum. Are you also wanting to lose weight and join this forum?
Hi Bridgegirl
Have I? Where do I find this forum?
That reply was to Harri600411
I see you're struggling with the site. It is quite complex as there's a lot going on. Go back to my first reply to you and read it through. Click on the blue link for Pinned Posts and you will find a list of posts - Welcome Newbies, Frequently Asked Questions etc. Scroll through them and read whatever catches your eye.
I'd be interested in what you think of the first link I've given you to the healthy eating guide
Welcome. You're in the right place.
Hi 3farm, there are many different approaches to a dieting none are wrong it just depends on what you think would suit you.
Lots of people on this forum seem to like the low Carbohydrate high fat diet.
Lots still use slimming world
Others count calories
I have my own little thing, I don’t weigh food, I guess at calories as I’m too lazy to look at packets or looking up the calories in a bit of chicken . For me I just try to think of foods that will fuel my body, i eat lots of chicken, fish, salad all vegetables, I do eat eggs, fruit but not too much just enough to aid constipation. And I drink lots of water, that was hard for me, it took a week before I realised it not only refreshed me but filled me up a lot. I didn’t believe it when people said that! day one I thought no, makes no difference day two the same makes no difference, I’m hungry not thirsty, but I persevered and by the end of a week I changed my view. We are all different, we have to find what works for us.
One tip if you don’t have good will power dump the cr**p in your cupboards or the things that aren’t that healthy that you know you can’t resist, you know the things like biscuits, crisps, cakes, etc. If it’s not there you can’t eat it.
Good luck or your new journey.
Hi Prunes
Thanks for replying to me & giving me some good advice
I have to say I am struggling with this site atm not to sure why but can’t seem to find anything but could I please ask, where do I find the diet you recommend? & where do I log my weight? Started today so ideally wanted to get going
Hope you’re doing ok
Hi 3farm I’m not too good at navigating the site either so your not alone. I am personally doing my own thing although it is quite low in carbs but not really following it as diligently as others.. I wish I could tell you where all the links are but I seriously don’t know, I have just noticed some people say they are following low carb high fat and there is a definite link , others have mentioned their doing weight watchers or slimming world , some are doing the nhs 12 week plan, others have mentioned a 8 week plan not even sure what that is sorry. Best to ask one of the administrators as they are the best people to ask. I know those on low carb high fat rave about it and get their recipes from diet doctor or I think that’s where they get it. Good luck
Thanks Prunes
I’ve just had a look around, crikey more baffled now than I was 10 minutes ago!!
I think I’m going to start weighing my food & have a ‘set calories’ amount daily & see how I do
You getting on ok tho? Have you lost much weight or have much to lose? I have about a Stone & half & need to do it before it’s gets totally out of hand
If I find anything interesting or the 12 week plan diet I will let you know
Have a lovely evening & thanks once again
Hi, yes I understand how over whelming it is! I have loads to loose, your at least lucky you haven’t let your weight creep up too much. I could do with loosing 4 stone to be a healthy weight😂 but I am feeling positive. My weighing day is tomorrow, I weighed myself today and in four weeks I have lost 12 pounds, hope it doesn’t go up tomorrow as I am happy with that!
Good luck, I hope you are successful.
That’s amazing 12lbs in 4 weeks that’s so good you must be so chuffed with yourself - good on you what a boost you are to the likes of me
👋👋
Your welcome, I might not be too encouraging if I full of the wagon! I am trying my best to be good, I just wish my knee would soon get better. I think a lot of people in my village are walking lots as in one day I saw two ladies with their knees strapped. Then I was walking behind a walker who looked like he was limping, he then started running , I think he must be doing the couch to 5k. I can’t consider running , however I am looking forward to getting into walking when my knee is better, only managing 1 of my twice daily walks at minute, but better then none.
Good luck with your dieting and hope you work out what you want to do.
