Can anyone please help me try to avoid evening snacking. I'm fine during the day, but after an evening meal and feeling full I stil want to snack - usually on all the wrong things! 😡

Evening Snacking
HI Robert,
I would recommend putting the words 'Evening snacking' in the search window above (i.e. where it says 'Search Weight Loss NHS') and then there will be many previous threads about how to cope with snacking. I just did that, and one thread that came up in that search is here:
healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh.....
But there are many more there, and worth a look through to see what ideas others have put forward regarding how they handle evening snacking.
Personally, I try to have balanced meals and snacks - within my calorie range allowance, and I try to ensure I don't keep too many things that would be overly tempting in the house. If they're not available, then you can't reach for them. Pre-planning can really help too. Not depriving yourself, and planning healthy snacks.
Hope these suggestions help, but hopefully you'll find some great tips from the 'Search' facility, and other people will pop by with their suggestions too.

Got the almonds and cashews lined up, but that only seems to make it worse. I seem to develop the will power of a rocking horse in the evenings. BUT onwards and upwards (or downwards on the scales, please!)
Hi Robert,
How about giving yourself a bit of a 'game' re: eating those almonds and cashews - I'd be tempted to think, I'll have an almond if I've done some star-jumps, maybe 10 of them, and I"ll have a cashew if I've done something else. They could become part of an exercise circuit!
Think of ways to distract and occupy your mind as much as you can in the evenings, so you're not turning to those snacks. Meaure out the amount you are allowing yourself, and when they're gone, don't reach for more, so make them last.
Those are just suggestions, it has to work for you as an individual - we're all different, so maybe try out what works best for YOU personally.
Good luck!

Hi I too find it hard in the evening with the little pangs of the snack monster. Now I do some craft work whilst watching TV or look on the forum, I keep frozen grapes 3 calories each in bags of 20 to snack on also those jubbly ice lollies are only 17 calories and take ages to eat.
I think it's when we are relaxed finished working for the day plus all those tempting TV adverts don't help.
Just put some healthy low cal treats in your cupboard to snack on and count them in your allowance also just getting a glass of water helps as this is something I think really AIDS digestion and the breaking down of foods after a meal it is amazing how full you feel after a big glass of water.

Colour! Find a hobby you can distract yourself with, that always helps. I find colouring in helps to keep me focused and I soon forget about snacking! There are some wonderful mindfulness colouring books you can get for cheap on 'Amazon'.
Heya. Could you allow a few hundred cals (if you calorie count) for something like:
homemade popcorn (add paprika and salt).
carrot sticks and low fat dip.
low fat yogurt(like total 0%) with a drizzle of honey.
chop up some fruit, like apple slices with cinnamon.
Not the same as higher cal snacks, ofcourse, but its something to munch on.
Also if you have cold water waiting in the fridge with a squeeze of lime it can take the edge off the munchies.
