I think you will be surprised how much curing food can do, when you eat the right things.

You need to change what you eat. It's the content of your meals that's compelling you to eat to excess, and to pack on fat. True, your limited mobility doesn't help, but eating the right things will get you back down to a more-or-less normal bodyweight.

Most of the things that you ought to be eating don't involve a lot of to-ing and fro-ing. Have scrambled eggs (with cream and butter) for breakfast, with a big pile of salad leaves on the side. Greek salad (with plenty of feta) for lunch. Grilled chicken for dinner with some veg roasted in olive oil. None of these require more than about five minutes of prep. Just some examples - check out dietdoctor.com for others that might be more to your taste. Basically, though, you need to be eating fresh, healthy food. If your cupboards are full of "convenient" things like rice, pasta, bread, breakfast cereals, and things-in-tins, get rid of them.

What you absolutely don't need to do is "stop eating". Eat until you are full. Eating less will (a) make you fatter and (b) drive you crazy. Proper crazy. If someone told you that everybody is drinking too much water and we should all drink less, you'd think they were soft in the head, right? So why on earth do we take any notice of people telling us to eat less?

Hi thanks for that info, I should have said I’m a vegetarian and can’t tolerate milk cheese or butter, but eggs I’m alright with,

Both my feet were damaged in a car accident, walking is very limited , my husband helps by preparing fresh vegetables which are great,

I have been overweight all my life , I overate from a child because of my family life, a comfort eater , when I went to slimming club leader told us we are here because we love food, my thoughts were no I’m here because I hate food, so why do I eat it or overeat it something that’s tastes like cardboard, it’s the eating in secret, eating to hurt myself, I seen myself eating and crying at the same I was eating and I didn’t even want it.if I could work out my problem with food, I don’t eat takeaway , we grow our own vegetables, I don’t have a treat drawer or anything like that, eating large portions, eating cereal at night, I do have rice , tinned fruit soya yogurt, crackers , digestive biscuits is the only biscuits I have in the house, I don’t stop eating or starve myself , it really feels like I’m punishing myself with food but I can’t stop,my childhood still haunts me.

Hi and welcome, Bunty4244 :)

You may find inspiration from another of our members with mobility difficulties healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

She also has a weight loss blog flidfit.com/

To support what TheAwfulToad has said, the type of food we eat can play a big part in the amount of food we eat. My advice would be to get rid of the crackers, rice, digestive biscuits, cereal and tinned fruit and use this as your guide to healthier eating dietdoctor.com/low-carb/vegan you can add eggs into the mix.

If this doesn't help to correct using food as a punishment, then I suggest you see your GP about getting some CBT.

All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.

If you haven't already taken it, here's a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true

We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.

Wishing you all the best :)

What happened in childhood affects your whole like my g p offered surgery but I knew the mental problems would sill remain.you are doing good for your boy. Good parenting makes a big impression on me . I see it every day hopefully people are loving their children in this day. I’m so glad I joined this group. All positive.

Good luck with the chair workout, that’s a good step. You may like it if not you’ve tried something new. Have you thought about making a small change with your food then building from there? Small changes still move you forward

Do you use You Tube? If so look for chair exercises and exercises for seniors on there. You Tube is my go to for exercise, there is so much available on there and it is free. When you find someone’s exercises that you like just subscribe, it doesn’t cost anything but you can then keep an eye on any new ones that they put out.

Best wishes for your new way of life.
