I'm not adverse to walking, but today I discovered just how many calories can be burned by putting one foot in front of the other at a normal pace - i.e. Not running. I set out to find just how far 5km is in my neighbourhood before starting the C25K challenge next week.
I ended up walking 7km in total and burned 412 calories. I wasn't power walking, just plodding along with my dog in the sunshine. That's given me the motivation to get out more. My poor dog's short legs will be none existent soon!!!

Well done you SportyGirl75 . Yes you really can walk yourself thin, well thinner anyway. Keep up the good work and remember that every step gets you closer to where you want to be...
I been upping my steps for the last 8wks and now walk about 10'000 steps a day 🏃 I use a step and sleep tracker called 'jawbone up move' it's a really good motivator 👍
I've not had time to do any other exercises apart from walking over the kids summer holidays but I have steadily been losing a lb a wk 💖
Good luck with the walking and I hope you enjoy the c25k when you start 😆
Hi and yas walking is gentle can be aerobic if steps made faster ( power walking ) but I think it's great because you get to notice things around you that when you drive by you don't see, plus you get to meet other people to so its win, win for me👍⭐️😊
I love walking, it's my 'me time' when I can think about everything or nothing and clear my head at the same time. How about that for multi-tasking! X
I am just starting week 8 of it and feel a lot fitter. I can now run for 28 minutes without stopping, which is truly amazing as I didn't think I would be able to run for even one minute at the beginning.
Thanks for the encouragement. I've completed 3 half marathons and a sprint triathlon in the past and used to play rugby and be up for trying most sports - hence SportyGirl user name. But I've lost my way since last year with some health issues and haven't been out running for about 12 months. I am so looking forward to feeling fitter again
