I am new to the forum and happy to be a member, my interests are weight loss, healthy eating, fitness and women's health. I work in the social care sector and i am also a published writer and teach Esol. I have lost weight in the past and regained it all back and i am sure that a lot of people in the forum will relate with that experience. Needless to say that i have now started again and this time doing it different, more of a lifestyle change approach. I think that now it is because i have grown older and wiser and learnt from my mistakes ha! ha! lets see how it goes. I have set my self a challenge (Goodbye2FAT) and got my teenage children to join me in the exercise sessions and thought it would also be a good idea to join an online support group (first one ever) for ideas, motivation, encouragement, tips and the all needed support. In my spare time i enjoy writing, reading, following news on current events. I enjoy life and enjoy being productive and helpful to others. I believe that i am in the right place.

Welcome to the forum Goodbye2fat

You have some lovely hobbies there and we are more than happy for you to be 'helpful to others' here :) That is what this forum is all about :)

Good to see that you are not dieting, but adopting a lifestyle change. You are among a lot of people who have had a life time of yo- yo dieting. I think it would be true to say that most of us, now realise that dieting just doesn't work.

If you haven't already, please take the time to read the Welcome Newbie post, this will help you to navigate the forum, which is best done using the full website and not the app.

Please also take a look at all of the Challenges, Clubs and Events that we have, to help to keep you motivated and engaged with the forum.

I agree with everything you say. I am not a dieter at all, I’ve nevertheless had to think about my weight for the first time ever during lockdown. I am not dieting as such, but trying to change my eating habits by not snacking, eating smaller portions and also enjoying a glass of wine with tea at the weekends. It seems nuts to me to go through so much pain to lose weight unless you are permanently able to keep it off, and we can only do that by changing eating habits for ever........It does take longer and you don’t see the results quickly, but I already feel slimmer and my clothes fit again.

Keep going.

You are very right. Like you my motto this time is "slowly but surely" this is what I say in my mind to remind me constantly and if ever i have a slip-day the next day is straight back on track and focus. I dont get stressed about it. Let's keep going together.
