Any ideas??

So on the 1 sept, it will be a year since I started this whole 'take back control of my life' journey. In that time I've lost over 5 stones, and completely changed my life. My only regret is not having done it sooner!! I can truly say for the first time in as many years that I'm finding my happy place. And please don't think it's down solely to losing weight although that's a bonus, it's more me finally getting a handle on why I gained weight in the first place. Don't get me wrong, it's a daily battle but now I know I can do whatever I want to if I set my mind to it.....,it's truly all in the mindframe.

I want to try something new in August, some sort of challenge but not sure what. It could be to work out everyday, at present I do 5 days. Or some sort of detox, a run (which I hate), anything really. So if you have any ideas please let me know because I'm stumped, ha ha ha!

Thank you xx

Congratulations on your achievement, you must feel and look fantastic. What about doing something that raises money for a charity you support, if you google fundraising for your area you might find something how about a bit of absailing or climbing something to celebrate what you have achieved!!

Look forward to hear what you decide.

Have a good week

😇

How about taking up yoga? :)

Well done, your achievements are amazing and positive attitude is something to be very proud of!

Have you heard of the couch to 5k? There is a community on here that is really supportive and motivational. I have never liked to run or jog and I've always claimed to be one 'those' people who weren't built for running, but the c25k is a 9 wk plan that promises to have you running for a full 30 minutes by the end of it. I started it last week and I don't know whether it's because my attitude has changed or whether I've just always been wrong about running, but I'm really enjoying it. Being able to run for a full 30mins, to me still seems ludicrous, but reading the stories on the forum has made determined to try.

Could be just the thing you're looking for? Either way, good luck :)

Congratulations - that's some achievement! You're right to plan a new challenge. I recommend C25K, just like purple goose. I started it in February, after 28 years without sport, and now run 5K two to three times a week. I'm fitter, slimmer, toned up, less anxious and have much more gumption than I ever did before. It's the ideal way to get into a sport that does you good across a broad spectrum of physical and mental health, and it's totally doable.

You will do, if it's something you really want. Just remember there will be days when you fall etc, but know tomorrow is always the opportunity to start again!!

Good luck with on your journey, don't give up! X

I was going to suggest c25k, but I think its possible you are already running. Do you meditate? You could meditate every day for 30 days...or how about doing a different activity each day - something you don't normally do. . So a dance class, a yoga session, Nordic walking. So many things you can try at home via youtube classes. That way you might find some new activity that you love for the future.

I'm laughing - I might just try that myself ;-)-

Thank you all for your suggestions, they've been lovely to read, and extremely supportive.

I think I'm going to do, gulp the couch to 25k as that sounds like something I'd hate....ha ha ha!

I do currently run in the form of short bursts (hiit), but the 25k would be an endurance thing which will kill me. However, as the saying goes what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.....so if you don't hear from me at the end of August you know what's happened!

Hi Koomie - its Couch to 5k rather than 25k - the 2 = to..

The idea of the programme is to have you running for 30 minutes at without stopping and it takes 9 weeks to complete the staged programme.

There is a great community for the programme too

Thanks for clarifying that, I'll check it out after work. Sounds very interesting though, and it's fine that it's longer than a month......just want to add something different to the regime I've got going.

Cheers again!

Why dont you try couch to 5k oh everyone I see has already said that I dislike running but love entering races :) If you are fit it wont take you too long and 10k is a nice distance lots of races around you can enter and maybe get some sponsorship too.

belive you me it will be much easier to run without having to drag the extra 5st around!!

You know you've just made me think of something which I hadn't realised.

I've lost the equivalent of over 30kg. In body pump, I squat 25kg and want to cry every single time, yet I was carrying that amount on my body daily without a thought, no wonder I was in constant pain!!!

The things we do to ourselves without any thought is quite amazing!

Will think of you in tomorrows squat track, I lift 25k too - go girl - I think Body pump is great for firming up what's left behind, (and a good bra fit of course) 😜

Well done on such as a great weight loss:) I second the idea of signing up to do something for charity. I am doing a 10km walk for Alzheimer's in September - it will be a pretty big challenge for me, maybe not so much for others.

You don't always have to ask for sponsorship, just pay an entrance fee and make a donation :)

Hope you find something to suit.
