Hello Maddi and welcome, that’s a very big question and a very big answer!! My advice is to take some time to read all the information Moreless gave you here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
There’s a lot to take in, but please read t carefully, and then ask if you have any further questions 😊
Absolutely, read the blurb. My own perspective is that the best diet is the diet that YOU can stick to and give you a better way of eating for the rest of your life, not just while you want to lose weight. I follow a low carb diet, and find it works really well for my body and is easy to stick to. Others here, follow a calorie counted approach. My other twopence worth is to think about whether you want to make small tweaks that will add to up to big changes over a long period, and you can build on, or if you want to start a whole new radical, big bang approach. Both work, but its worth thinking about what you have the appetite for.
Otherwise, don't worry about gyms being closed. What we put in our mouths is the thing that gets us fat or thin. Exercise is great for the body and mind, but its quite possible to do a lot of exercise and stay tubby because we overeat (I have been there). There are lots of ways to stay active without the gym - I do free weights and home, walk and cycle. There are also a zillion youtube videos - apparently Joe Wicks' PE videos for children are surprisingly demanding.
You'll certainly find some useful ideas and support on here. You pose a really good question. If I knew the answer it would solve a weighty problem. Good luck.
