I need to lose about a stone. But I have IBS and gluten intolerance so a lot of good food is off the menu. Stuff like cereal and a lot of veg that all cause problems. I am also not a fruit lover. And I have hypermobility which means my joints are loose and sometimes dislocate and I have a lot of pain so I can't exercise. I eat as healthily as my body will allow and mostly home cooked food from scratch what I do eat is low fat but I just can't shift the stone. What can I do to get my weight moving in the right direction.

How can I lose weight?
Hi and welcome, IBSandfat
I'm sure you'll find things here that you can eat healthunlocked.com/api/redi... Your IBS would probably be easiest to accommodate with a LCHF diet, others have said it improves their symptoms and it excludes all grains and most fruits anyway. You'll just need to work out which veggies are best for you. You may find this interesting too, as fat has been proven to not be the enemy we once thought fatismyfriend.co.uk/
Exercise plays a very small part in weight loss, so don't do more than you feel comfortable with.
All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.

We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
Wishing you all the best
I do cook with lard and have butter instead of margarine I save the olive oil for salad dressing. I eat a lot of fish and used to eat seafood a lot until I recently developed an allergy to certain shell fish. As I get older I seem to be acquiring more and more allergies, something I have never had before. I make soups from scratch. I eat a healthy diet with little or no sweet food, I'm not a sweet lover, prefer a savoury diet. I just can't seem to shift any weight without starving myself. I even cut out drinking tea because I like it with sugar. I have skimmed milk and drink that a lot instead of juices and squash, I never drink fizzy. If I do fancy a bit of fizz I have carbonated water with a splash of lemon or lime juice. And I don't drink alcohol at all. I don't eat pasta or bread very often. I really don't know what else I can do to lose weight. I am 5ft 5 and weight 11st 11lb I just want to lose a stone.
Skimmed milk will spike an insulin response and put you into fat storage mode, rather than fat burning mode, as will eating between meals. Stick to no more than three meals a day, preferably two if you can.
If you can tolerate any sort of exercise at all, aim for light weights/resistance and some walking.
Log your meals onto our daily diary, so that we can offer more informed advice.
Not being a 'fruit lover' is not really a problem, as arguably fruit consumption would best be limited because of natural sugars. 😊
This is true but not being able to eat a lot of vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, brussels, onions, beans, peas and so many more, I thought I should at least eat the fruit that I can to make up for it. .
