Obesity
Hiya, I've started on a journal the now changing. I haven't got the best help but I can tell you how I got started. Taking little steps is what I did. Starting counting calories and walking more. Starting small is better than not at all. Look up good healthy recipes and buy food for them.
Don't be so mean to yourself when you start as it will take awhile for your body to understand what is happening.
Don't know if this helps but I'm here for support in any way I can. Not a doctor or anything but a friend to cheer you on.
Xxx
Hello and welcome to the forum Hazelvibes,
Thank you for your supportive reply to Rhinestone, the peer to peer support here is so important
If you are going to follow an eating plan counting calories, please make sure that you use the NHS BMI calculator to calculate your own personal calorie range and start at the top end. It is very important to be eating enough to lose weight.
You might find the links I have given to Rhinestone in my reply of interest too. Why not go and take a look.
If you haven't already, please take the time to read the Welcome Newbie post, this will help you to navigate the forum, which is best done using the full website and not the app.
Please also take a look at all of the Challenges, Clubs and Events that we have, to help to keep you motivated and engaged with the forum.

The above link will take you to all the information you need. Participation is key to success and I would recommend that you at least join the Daily Diary and a Weigh In day of your choice.
As a peer to peer support group, we all benefit from encouragement and support from one another, so look forward to seeing you join in around the forum
Wishing you the best of luck on your weight loss journey

Hi Rhinestone_
The first thing is not to be so hard on yourself. I can 100% relate to you, at 19 I weighed the same, I tried every fad diet going and nothing worked, I was miserable and stuck in a trap comparing myself to others. Focus on the things you like about yourself, they don't have to be physical... For instance, I know that I can be quite funny at times and I love that.
The weight loss part is hard, but I'm starting to realise that you can do it, even if it's in small chunks. I think we all expect to loose several stones in a matter of weeks, but it doesn't work like that.
Find something you enjoy exercise wise and that won't make you feel like you've failed because you can't do what others can do. I love going for walks for instance, I can take it at my own pace and I get to explore new places locally.
Food wise, here's a few things I'm finding helpful:
1) plan out your week ahead, only buy what you need. This way you don't end up with a cupboard of chocolate, crisps and biscuits that are super tempting.
2) check out the daily diary. This is full of lots of inspiration food wise and by adding your own plan to it, your making your commitment to yourself to stick with it.
3) don't beat yourself up if you have a rubbish food day. Recognize that you've eaten rubbish and move on. Don't give up on one bad day.
4) start calorie counting, but don't get fixated and obsessed with it. Find your calorie allowance on the NHS site and try to plan your foods to be within that range.
5) don't cut all the food you love. It can be tough if you suddenly deprive yourself of the things you're used to. In my experience cutting them all leads to me giving up, instead, limit them and enjoy them when you need that little pick me up.
I haven't lost huge amounts of weight, but I weight 19st 4 in summer 2017. I did slimming world for a few months but couldn't follow it and went of on my own. I manged to bring weight down to 17st and decided to really commit to it again 2/3 weeks ago. I've managed to lose 4lb so far, putting me in the 16st bracket... If you'd said to me in 2017 I'd be the weight I am now, I wouldn't have believed it, but here we are!
Believe in yourself and stay positive! You got this!

Can I just say first of all thank you so much for replying and everything you have told me I’m gonna take on board I’m gonna go at my own pace and the food situation it’s not so easy as I work in a supermarket so I always tend to have bad lunches and always buy junk food x
You are very welcome! This group is amazing for support, so just check in when you can, even on a rough day I've found the support here useful 😊
Like moreless said below, taking a packed lunch and no money could be a great option. At work, we have a cafe on site and it's super tempting, but if I don't have my purse with me, the temptation quickly vanishes. It's really about planning ahead. I find that making my own graze boxes is a great for lunch on the go, pack some silicon cake cases with various bits, cheese, ham, nuts, fruit, maybe some Crackers etc the variety of foods makes it more interesting and it visually looks more appealing too 😊
Hi I joined this forum and on my week one I posted my food I was going to eat the next day. (I do have have 10st to lose.) the lady there said after she saw my foods list for the day that there was certain foods she would possibly change which was bread and other things too. So I try what she suggested was a low carb diet. And the more I learn about the things I can eat and not eat it’s like all the things I love and more. I have spent most of my life trying to lose weight and at last I found this. I love the support I’m getting and I guess it’s not always going to be easy but I feel I’m not alone. You should never feel alone on here there’s lots of people that will help you. Good luck
Hi. I can be at the end of a text. I am going to follow nhs advice on calorie counting. I am much much older than you but understand how you feel!
