New here would love to meet others and help me stay on track and be accountable

Hi everyone. I've just signed up. I've struggled with my weight since my teens, and struggling with depression I just piled the pounds on until I reached 19 stone in 2014. I managed to lose 4 stone. But for thr past 2 to 3 years I've been yo-yo ing between 14 and 15 stone. I don't have anyone to share my journey with and would love some support as my family and friends don't really know how to help me. I'd love an accountability partner and a wider support group for my weight loss. Can anyone help point me in the right direction? Thank you =)

Hi and welcome, Sarahlou2990 :)

You've come to just the right place for support, accountability and encouragement, as that's what this community excels at.

You've done really well to get as far as you have, but maybe a change of direction is what you need now? I'm not sure what method you used to lose the 4 stone, but have you considered doing something completely different? Have a look at this and see if it helps healthunlocked.com/weight-l...

All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and we hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.

If you haven't already taken it, here's a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true

We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.

Wishing you all the best :)

Hi. Before I was working out 3 times a day and eating very well. I counted calories but they were at the higher end due to the amount of exercise I was doing. I now study at uni and don't have as much time as I had before. I still like to work out but I've reduced my calories significantly and I think this may be my downfall as I'm hungry often now and feeling deprived =/

Thank you for sharing the pages. I will go and have a good look at those. X

Hi Sarahlou, you have definitely come to the right place. Once you've found your way around this site just jump in and join in with the daily diaries and weekly weigh ins. If its not too overwhelming for you, join in on the challenges and treats posts too. I too suffer from depression and anxiety and this site has been so supportive and encouraging. The more you join in the more you get out of it. I joined in, in staggered steps, and wish i'd jumped straight in with both feet from the beginning. Saying that maybe my head and body knew i had to take it one step at a time. Do it at a speed that is right for you but don't let the fear of opening up stop you. You will only ever get positive responses😊

You've done brilliantly with your weight loss so far and with the support of this group you will lose the rest too. My one piece of advice that has really made this journey work for me is to not think of it as a diet but as a lifetime change to getting healthy and making food choices that i know i can continue with for ever. The weight loss comes as an added bonus.

I wish you the best and look forward to seeing you around on the forum xx

Hi thank you for your message. I shall definitely join in. I'll have to navigate the site a bit to find the weigh in and daily diary. I think that will be really helpful for people to see it. Atm I have mfp but I don't know anyone on there and no one can see it so I feel if people can comment it would make me more accountable or proud on the days I've done well.

Thank you again. Yes I used to see it like a journey of healthy changes lately by mindset has changed to just need to lose weight. But it doesn't work for me that way. Think that's why I keep yo yo ing. X

Hi Sarahlou2990

well done on the weight loss 4 stone is a great achievement,!!! Your story sounds very familiar haha, I know it’s hard to find friends and family who can understand and help when they aren’t going through the same things, but there is so much support here so you can do this. :D I’m a big proponent of small steps lead to big changes! x

Thank you =) yeh it really is tough when people aren't supportive. I live in a house share too with people who are constantly eating not very healthy things tbh and it's a lot of temptation, so I'm having to resist a lot and usually failing in that department =( x
